Until they learn to aim though, at least in movies, those ray weapons are terrible...they can't hit anyone who's supposed to make it to the end of the movie.

In real life, so far, the lasers work best as a way to aim the lead projectiles.

That means, that in the future, maybe they need laser pointers to show the point of aim, so that when they fire the ray gun, maybe they'd hit something?

LD development will evolve...fueled by Pico projectors....where will it level out ??? Dunno.....???? Order of magnitude MORE than current levels...my guess..for the mass projector market. I imagine the end game will be 10~12K lumens....in a Pico package....That should be enough....

If you've ever seen the tracers screaming out to targets from a Gatling gun, it LOOKS almost like a laser...

So, sure, a Gatling Gun firing tracers to track across the target until we get a lock, then fire the laser, sure.




If we aim hard enough, we might not need to fire the laser.


In the movies, they show a perp stopping when he sees the laser dots playing across his chest, etc....

Now imagine him being riddled with tracers while the cops say, STOP! Or we'll SHOOT!

I think the tracers would turn him into hamburger, so, knocked out, then turned into hamburger, cooked somewhat with the phosphorus perhaps...then maybe he'd hit the ground.

I think a 1 second burp is a few thousand rounds, that's a lot of tracers to hit one guy with in a second.

It probably takes more time to say "Stop or we'll shoot!"
