3.3W+ Sinner's MagicStick MS-V5 - "Hyper-S" Copper Sink - 9mm Build 2.25A 2x18350

Re: 3.3W+ Sinner's MagicStick MS-V5 - "Hyper-S" Copper Sink - 9mm Build @2.25A 2x1835

Woo Hoo! That's awesome that you hit 3.3W!! I am glad I could help you out in any way. You've helped me tremendously. It might be about time I kept a 3W in my permanent collection. I've got all the single modes and an M-140 @ 2.2W.

Man every time I see something like this, I feel sorry my metal supplier doesn't carry copper (and I can't properly machine it anyway), but then I remember, if I ever touched a polished beauty with my sweaty hands, it'd oxidize so fast it'd probably explode. A bit.

I hope it doesn't tarnish too fast. You plan on re-polishing it once it does, or are you protecting it somehow from going dull?

Thanks guys :D I actually polished it once, The Aluminium doesnt tarnishes it just gets scratched so i dont keep it rattling arround in the drawer.. Copper is naturally degraded patina i can't take the picture right now but i'll try to sometime, You'll love to see the red-green patina patterns on a polished surface , I like them so much i never bothered repolishing it :D

@SBA! I sure did kept a soul of your dyeing 9mm didnt I !

Re: 3.3W+ Sinner's MagicStick MS-V5 - "Hyper-S" Copper Sink - 9mm Build @2.25A 2x1835

The tarnish on the copper is of little concern. My daily burner that I used at work has a polished copper heatsink. About once a month, I take the retaining ring off and rub a little lemmon juice w dissolved salt on it, and wham, it's clean. It takes nearly seconds to clean it right up.

I can't wait to get this host! It creates the same sense of desire I had when I saw the SSW.

Mmm that's hot. Very nice work.

Don't you think that's a little too risky to take off the lens for that long, its usually humid here so i never leave any of my diode lasers without lens even if i am cleaning the lens i have to put on an acrylic lens so the diode window doesnt get dirty whatsoever, I can't afford to de-can them, I am afraid i might lose my love/interest in that particular laser if it's anything less than perfect! :D

Thanks MT :D Glad you like it  Congrtz on your Daguin Lasersaber too, Have fun!

Re: 3.3W+ Sinner's MagicStick MS-V5 - "Hyper-S" Copper Sink - 9mm Build 2.25A 2x18350

I'm not familiar with the humidity in Dubai, but our summer average is 35-40 degress with 40-60% humidity. Though, I do not remove the lens when I am rubbing down the copper. It's got a 3-element lens on it with an extended barrel. So, q-tips get right in there, around the lens barrel and I get the whole thing clean. I usually only remove my lenses in air conditioned environments, where the humidity is much lower.

I see, being careful is nice and you must have super steady hands i bet! ;)
It's usually 50%-70% peaks at 80% +/-2% ...Indoors its approx 25-30% because of airconditioning, but i tend to be extra careful due to the sensitive nature of the expensive optics involved..

Here's a pic of the heatsink mentioned.

As you can see, with the retainer ring removed, it's not problem at all, getting to the areas that need cleaning.

youve got an efficient diode in there to do 3.3watts at 2.25 amps, what lens exactly did you use? love the host, especially the copper head ;) :gj:

Re: 3.3W+ Sinner's MagicStick MS-V5 - "Hyper-S" Copper Sink - 9mm Build 2.25A 2x18350

It is considerably efficient, My other 9mm does 2.75W at 2.2A, might bump this one up to 2.4A ~3.5W should be no problem!!
P.S: It's stock 9mm Lens.. Cleaned it up with Isopropyl Alcohol before the test to make sure it is >95% output efficiency!

hoping for an efficient diode as well, im going to run my 9mm with stock 9mm lens at 2.2 amps inside your MS-SSW ;) hoping for the 3 watt mark
