260W IR Laser pump handheld?

That's what scares me about NIR and IR. You can't see it so there's not even a reflex for it. Not that it would matter I guess but still.

Worst yet an innocent bystander wouldn't know there was a person lasing carelessly, if someone were to be lasing carelessly, so it's our duty to remind anyone interested to remember ((( Safety 1st ))) always and every time.

Now above 1500nm or so the light doesn't pass through our corneas and reach our retinas, so diffuse reflections are much less a hazard, this is why I hope the coming advances in laser welding such as portables, evolve into the 1550nm range.
Fiber lasers in the 1550nm range exist but are more expensive at the moment, but that could change.

@RedCowboy
Lenses for our 9mm lasers do not last. They spray very quickly and at 50% of the laser power. The 260W one I haven't seen its full power yet because I can't get most of the 10 amps out of this power supply. At 18A these lenses will break instantly. So they drop out as an option. I'll think about what to do. I want something like in this video

Yep, you need AR coated for NIR or non coated lenses.
The guy in the videos I gave also removed all the lenses. He also showed me how to add a 5mw red laser so I can see where the infrared world is.

Yes, I saw I saw them on Aliexpress. Now I need to add a 5mw red laser to show me where the beam is pointing. That way it will be easier for me to experiment with the lens I have. I also found an ad currently selling a side of 3 lenses. He sells all three for $35

You want really good beam quality and much better divergence, you need to source the active fiber modules that are used in the 4 in 1 laser welders, they are getting more compact, less expensive and now offered as air cooled.

Active fiber ( double clad ) is the gain medium your pumps power to make a much higher quality beam, not a beam bundle, but a single high quality beam.

Should be able to find the source module for much less than half the sale price.
Of course in time used units could be repurposed.
