Since that is not the original lens, you might want to ask for a refund as you are likely to get the same issue with the new one. It does look like the lens housing has melted. That is very unusual as all the glass lenses I have ever seen all use metal housings. I'm glad you are able to send it back, but think about what you might be getting in return.

WL may have a jinx-- they screwed a lot of people around and did things that are/were
VERY bad for all except WL,
WLs are not easy to sell here.
Some owners leave them off their collection list.

IF you were NOT here during that you have no clue how bad it got..
The laser haters took this '' Instantly sets flesh on fire'' and ran w/it.
made the TV news headlines-- Sales went crazy-- ~ 100 lasers ordered in about an hour 24/7.
They asked JL to help make them-- they replied that they wanted nothing to do with such cheaply made lasers. WL paid a whole $7 for each Arctic host (& they look it)

Damn, that doesn't look like a glass lens to me with what appears to be melted plastic, but maybe that is glue.
