1n54xxx series diodes.

I just went to radio crack to get some of these, because I need to have a test load that isn't gonna blow up on me at 1.5-1.8 amps.

Is it okay to use 3 1n5402 diodes with 2 1n5404 diodes? I need to test 445 diodes, so I will be using 5 diodes in my test load. They only had two of each so I went ahead and grabbed them.

Also, can I just switch out these old 1n4001 diodes and replace it with 5 of the 1n54xxx series?

I sent a few pm's since it's just a small question, but had no replies yet, so pleaseee dont hop on me if it's already been asked, I just want to get this done before I go to work!

You can use the 1n5402s with the 1n5404s with no problems. As far as replacing the 1n4001s I see no issue with it.

Yep they are much bigger to handle more current. Just solder them to each other in a chain as that's what I did.

Depends on the kind of board, but these things can certainly be hefty.

540x series diodes are all pretty much the same in forward mode, its just that higher x means they can handle more reverse voltage. This is exactly the same with 1n400x diodes, so you can mix and much whatever you like/have.
