Hello dear community,
I've got about three or four dozen unprotected 18650 batteries, and I really
don't need most of them. All of these were pulled from nonfunctional
laptop batterie packs, so most of them are still quite OK, others may
have they're capacity severely reduced, and internal resistance noticably increased...
Over the next few days I will try to "bin" them, measuring their IR like
suggested in one thread around here somewhere, involving a 1Ohm 5Watt
resistor, that I recently layed my paws upon. :D

Anyways, if someone would like to have say, a pair, of them I would ask them
to pay for the shipping only. I'll still have to check, because of the weight, but I
think it would be around 2-3€ internationally.
I don't really want to make any money out of this, but neither do I want
to open my purse for shipping to your destination...
So in the unlikely case that someone has trouble finding 18650s,
drop me a line in this thread an I'll see to it that you get some.

I'll update later to tell you the results of my tests with them.
Merry Christmas, LPF!:san:

EDIT: members interested:

TDKKP paid shipping for 2 pairs;shipped on 28th dec
ryanbrooks
ideas: paid shipping for 2 pairs;shipped on 28th dec
Mrcrouse: paid for 3 pairs. shipped on 4th jan
nikokapo: got a pair set aside and waiting for him.
leodahsan: paid; shipped on 4th jan.

each of you can get 2 cells if you're OK with shipping costs.
Keep in mind, you can get a pair of NEW cells on DX for about 8-12$, so make sure it's worth to you

Great action. I don't want them but maybe others might need it.

you are really nice! thanks for your kind donation to me and other LPF members!

reliable john

I'm interested, but only if the batteries perform somewhat up to spec. Thanks for the offer :)

So I just measured a bunch of them, taking V1= under no load and V2= under 1Ohm load.
I realize 1 ohm is quite a low resistance, resulting in 3-4 Amps flowing... much more
than under any normal, reasonable usage.
Here's some results:

If these numbers confuse you, read this thread.

So yeah most of them are still quite decent, execpt the last 7 those are utter garbage.
Those were all <1Volt when I found them:rolleyes:

Sorry about this, but:
I'm calling dibs on the second batch, those six cells with Rinternal<100mOhm :na:

So that leaves the first two batches (#1-16) plus the fourth batch (5 cells, ~190mOhm) available for shipping to you guys.
As for now, I'm making a new rule here: max 2 cells per member,
at least until everybody gets some, then we can see about the rest. ;)

Also I still have another set of nine that are yet to be pulled from their laptop pack,
so more info on those later.
Tomorrow I'll see about those shipping costs.;)

At the moment I'm running a discharge test of one from the 1st 16 and one from the 4th batch
one @660ma, and one @490ma, to make a guesstimate about the capacity that's left in them.

#14 (4.19 3.71 1 0.129380053908356 7.72916666666666)

anxiously awaiting those shipping fees.. :)

OK, shipping costs:
there's two (cheapest) options, normal airmail, and "economic" (boat and truck).
The post office has this to say about shipping times:

Europe World
-------------------------------------
normal 5 wd 7wd
economic 10wd 20wd

wd =(week/work days)

and this about stamp prices (for up to 100g= 2 cells):

Europe World
-------------------------------------
normal 1.33€ 1.95€
economic 1.15€ 1.45€

To keep your costs to a minimum, I'm gonna recycle chinese envelopes, if that's
OK with you.:D Otherwise I'd have to charge more....

Also, I just found out that PayPal would charge me (I mean you:eg:) around
0.40€ unless you declare the payment as a gift.

Alternatively, people can also transfer money to my bank account (IBAN, BIC/SWIFT)
if that would be easier or cheaper (thank you PayPal:rolleyes:) for you.

So there you go, you can now work out your shipping and payment options,
and PM me for my financial contact info when you're done. ;)

In the meantime, I'm preparing envelopes of (as good as I can) matched pairs,
waiting only for your address to put on them. :)

And so it has begun. First memeber paid and will get them shipped tomorrow.;)

Capacity test: one cell from the "not-so-great" batch lasted around 3 hours @~500ma,
until the laser stopped working. Resting voltage was 2.2V  A little bit too discharged.
So maybe 1200-1500 mah left in those :(
Gotta redo that test with one from the first lot, they perfom better....

And another one will be shipped tomorrow.

This one:
4.18 3.48 1 0.201149425287356 4.97142857142857
has been running for over 4 hours @480mA, and it still measures 3.6V.
So not bad capacity-wise, despite the high internal resistance...

Off-topic rant:
My FocalPrice XX-852, which has been my strongest and favorite greenie so far
just crapped out: the POS threads of the tailcap have given up after the last
battery change....
Now it doesn't close properly, and it doesn't make proper electrical contact.

Just bumping this, to say I just handed TDKKPs and ideas' packages
over to the post office.

Leodahsan and mrcrouse just got theirs shipped.

There's not really much left after this...
I DO have a another batch of nine, but preliminary tests weren't very promising. :(
