18650, power vs. duration? best cell?






Some chemistries will give you 0.15 more volts at fully charged conditions. I think samsung and sanyo make some of these. NCR18650a is a 4.2V cell. Great capacity, but you stated that you don't care for that, so don't pay extra for the highest capacity when you don't care about it.*
Other chemistries' cell voltage won't sag as much under heavy loads (IMR). These cells can withstand discharge currents of tens of amps.

*-ncr18650a has the highest capacity, but can only be discharged at 1lt, i.e. if 2900mAh cell, can only be discharged at 2.9A max, 3100mAh cell 3.1A discharge max.
 
Say I'm not concerned with length of use,
just raw voltage feeding my 532/445 lasers

What is the "best" cell to produce the highest mW from the laser?

or Samsung

For the 532nm laser, you will need high current capability.
(I would use low a I.R. cell, like Panasonic 3400mah)

For the 445nm laser w/boost driver, you will need highest voltage capability.

The 4.35 VDC Samsung cell will give you the highest output.

I have not found any name brand #16340 cells yet.

I have inquired with lots of vendors.

IMR cells are available, but a minimum order would probably be ~10 cells.

So the green Pana's are "not" low IR, correct?
they'd be better for 445nm?

you will need a new charger.

I have a 1 amp 4.35 VDC charger for $17.95 each .

Samsung 3000ma 4.35 VDC cells are $11.95 each prepaid.

The lowest internal resistance Panasonic are CGR18650CH.
I measured them at 54mΩ compared tp 97mΩ for NCR18650A

Capacity of CGR18650CH is 2200mah

vs.

Capacity of NCR18650B is 3400mah,
and has "safety layer".

I measure DC Internal Resistance @ 55 milliOhms.

In some cases, the higher voltage 18650 cells will deliver more output with a boost driver.
