12x BR DIODES

OK Ceno ---

Interesting data. I have plotted two Blu diodes and your data seems to fall in the center of my two graphs. The difference noted between your data and mine can happen because of the lack of correlation of power meter calibration in this hobby. Still, your input is noted.

Thanks -- HMike

Update: I now have 20 minutes of runtime on this diode and it's still going strong. Metered it this morning and it's still reading 560mW.

560 mW is class IV !!!! Have you been able to measure the current on this single diode? That would be most helpful. It might give us an idea what graph line you are in or if there is an in between area.

I take it that would mean putting the meter inline with the diode and then turning the laser on? If so, then not yet. I will have some time tomorrow to try that and see what readings I get.

Cheers to that. There still needs to be more of us pushing the upper limit to get good coverage on the playing field, but at least there are a couple of us near the 800mW+ range.

All I really think about continuously now is: 16x

:D

The way we're pushing these diodes and the way they're taking the abuse, I would not be surprised if 16x uses the same diode w/ better optics.

"All 12x Owners" datasheet has been updated with the entrance of yobresal! (the 12x BR longest running time, for what I know )

Alright got my 12x done :D

Setup:
Pioneer BDR-205BK diode
Flexdrive v5 @ 410mA
405-G-1 lens
9LED flashlight host w/ custom heatsink
3x AAA batteries

Laserbee says 580mW ;)

Your power reading at that current is very close to my graph for a 12X Blu.
That G1 lens is impressive for burning. Be Careful.

Hi there guys, I am sick as a dog right now but I still managed to build a laser that I have wanted for a long time. Thanks Jayrob for the heatsink and pill modification. I actually ended up soldering the driver directly to the diode. It just fits. I may end up turning it down depending on whether or not I notice any odd fluctuations/degredation of power.
Here are the specs.

This is basically a pocket mini/micro chrome hybrid. It uses the 405-G-1 lens, Lavadrive set at 580mA, single CR123A battery, and a BDR-205 12X diode. Puts out 790-800mW

I have that host (running a LOC) and that is an extremely small host... running 800mW ?!? Amazing!

Regardless of Jay's fine heat-sinking work, this has to be a short duty-cycle solution, though, right...?

EDIT: That's funny, it's not the same host, but really damn close... yours even looks smaller :-?

It's basically a Pocket Mini, but Chrome. In fact, I have made a few of those Chrome kits recently... 'Hot' option kits too, but that's cool that yobresal did it with a direct connect to the diode...

The Chrome kits are only priced $2 dollars more than the normal black kits...

Nice build!
