The laser arrived yesterday after only two days shipping. First thing was to measure the output...applied 5v to analog input. I was expecting 800-950mW but the LPM displayed 1183mW. I was amazed how bright the dot appeared.
It was still day time so I closed the curtains to give an idea of the brightness of the beam. The beam appeared very dim. Thought it would be best to wait till night.
Night:
Again the beam was unimpressive...but the spot lit up the room. Hook up the smoke machine and filled the room with smoke.
The laser came alive!! Never have I seen such a powerful red beam. The smoke around the beam glowed. It was very, very impressive!
I know there are arguments whether these lasers are 650 or 660nm. Therefore 200mW 635 should be equal in brightness to 1000mW 660. I can from personal experience (cause my 635nm did 200mW – although it died last week @ 500mW) that this laser is MUCH brighter than 200mW 635nm. I’d have to argue and suggest this laser is close to 650. Ratio being 1100mW 650nm = 500mw 635nm.
The pics don’t really to justice as the beam is much brighter.
Conclusion: Laser is really powerful and I feel worth $440 despite the square beam we all know.
