10x Blu ray Burner from Buffalo

I was thinking about this after finding the S03 sleds online last night.

This new 10X is only 10X for SINGLE layer writing. It is still only 8X for dual layer. I believe it is the strength of the laser that allows for the deeper burning.

If that is true, then the increase of speed at the single layer level is probably just due to some software/firmware/speed improvement.

Or should I put my foil hat back on?

oh, interesting! didnt know that other drives (i looked up the 203) do 8x on single and doublelayer!

well, seems like there wasnt a single diode killed from driving too high. the few death were other problems (shorted, overheating and pulsing). so we dont even know the limits of the current 8x diodes. we cant really compare (hypothetical) 10x diodes to them then, not?
