A lot of those adjustable DC to DC buck/boost like that will spike when you first turn them on, you can start low and adjust to your desired current, but when you switch it off then back on it will spike and blow led's and ld's.

EDIT: Ok I see it's not an adjustable, it's 30W and your led is 10W, there's your problem.

Don't use one of these adjustable units as is to limit current, they will spike.

That's not quite how this works. It's a constant voltage device, not a constant power device. The 30W figure is a maximum output rating, not a forced output value. The problem is it's constant voltage, not constant current. CV can be converted to CC with additional circuitry, but I don't see any here.

Here's the driver specs bro.

Features:
Input voltage DC 3 ~ 6.8V, Output DC 12V
Maximum output current: 2.5A
Max Power: 30W

Input 3.3V Output Current 12V 0.5MA
Input 3.7V Output Current 12V 1A
Input 5V Output Current 12V 2A
Input above 6V Output Current 12V 2.5A

Size:50(L)*25(W)mm
Attention :
1: Boost modules or buck module indicate the operating voltage, Please donot exceed operating voltage , or it will be damaged easily !
2: Automatic Adjustable Boost or Buck module has start voltage and limit working voltage!
3: Boost module output voltage can only be greater than or equal to input voltage, cannot be less than the input voltage!
4: Buck module input voltage must be higher than output voltage of 1.5V or 2V, otherwise it can not output enough power ,Please donot exceed them , or it will be damaged easily !
5: Cannot reverse polarity , or it will be short circuit, or will be born easily !
Applications:

Interesting good to know, don't forget that clicky switch is using the same battery and max 4.2v, it works great, the whole build cost me $20 I've never seen a blue flashlight on eBay so I had to build one, if the led dies I'll change it there only $2 and the driver was $5 I'll let you know if it dies.
