1000mw 650nm diode specs - opinions?

A guy I know owns a laser therapy company.. Asked him if his suppliers sold any strong 660/635 diodes. Here's specs on 1W 660nm.

Weird format so I just made a snapshot...
What do you guys think? I am no expert but divergence looks better than mitsubishi D's.

Just asked, C-mount.

Will update with diagram he is emailing me.

I'm actually fairly impressed.

For $100, that's not a bad price on a 1W 650nm C-Mount. It's not going to look as bright as the Mitsubishi 635s, but that price is a lot lower than we would have seen 6 months ago.

Most importantly, the beam specs are pretty good. I'd be curious to know the emitter size. But the beam specs alone are pretty decent.

Not sure if I really want to go the c-mount route due to the obstacles..
Had a look at threads about diy c-mounts, all seems a bit grey.

Is it worth it? Would it be worth it for more experienced people such as yourself?

It's going to be less visible, and more expensive, than the Mitsubishi 300mW diodes. But it's going to (probably) have a better beam.

There's some value to that, and if you have a way to mount the diode, it's not a bad deal. It probably wouldn't be at the top of my priority list to play with right now though.

The fast axis does not appear to be some relatively "fast" compared to the slower one.

What worries me is the threshold current typo, or whatever, and also the emission point accuracy. 80um is a pretty big tolerance for devices on this scale.

The 445 emitter is what, 15um by 40um?

So if there could be a dx dy dz as big as 80um... what does that mean?

I think the threshold current was just defined poorly.

I would venture to guess that the datasheet writer was thinking in terms of "how early in the current curve will this lase?" and that answer was "typically around 1,000mA, but at best it might lase as early as 655"

Emission point accuracy, as I understand it, refers to the physical positioning of the emitter relative the dead center of it's intended position. IE, how far off the intended resting point does the emitter actually get placed. I don't believe this is referring to the emitter size itself.

Does anyone yet have a "MODC" or similar mount? This may work well in a projector with this lab housing.

ill bite.
If someone can point me to a place were i can diy my own i would like to buy one.
a 1W diode that might have better beam specs then the mistu will be a great thing to have.
And i have the tools to build a heatsink.
But are there any builds on it i can see.
Also if we can get the emitter size that would help alot.

i would buy one in a heart beat if you could get me the emitter size. if its right this could make my projector so amazing!
Please get it asap!

Updated with diagram on first post.
Will let you know when I get emitter size but he says it is tiny, not normal TO-18 type where it sits behind window.

Sorry for all the missing info, I think he wants to withold his supplier which I respect.

Depending on people interested I would be happy to run a group buy, although that will be a while. Would rather know these are 100% on-spec before I start dishing them out. Will also need to send from ZA and int. tracking is $27 so a middleman in US would be ideal if any volunteers.

idk if i want another GB but i am interested in buying a sample order to test.

I would indeed wait for the emitter size information. The divergence doesnt mean anything at all without knowing the size of the emitter: the final divergence/beamsize tradeoff depends on both factors.

As these laser diodes come from a source that uses them in laser therapy, i doubt the emitter size will be small as this adds cost but is of no use in the application.
