1 watt 447nm Laser Pointers from Dragonlasers Now Available

I'm starting to want the Arctic less and less. I'm tempted to refund and get a Spartan, maybe I should wait for a Spartan review first.

I wonder if WL will refund me on the 2 year refund I bought if I return it within days of receiving the laser.
edit: wait a minute! I'm better off selling it on the forum being that it's worth more. I can has... PROFIT

I paid for the Arctic and the $80 warranty, and they refunded both. Granted, they never shipped the laser.

Ultimately I decided the reviews did not look stellar for the arctic, and I'd much rather wait till all the highed died down and WL gets their act together.

The Spartan looks like a safer bet, it's simpler and is about the same price. While they may not offer as long of a warranty, I would expect anything to go wrong with a laser that would die to happen in the 6 month time frame that they provide(actually if something is going to happen, i'd expect it to happen after a few days). and I would rather deal with DL in warranty replacement, then WL after reading the feedback.

Edit:

I set up a nice range to test the divergence if the Spartan when I get it. I'll be able to test it over 1,320 feet (1/4 mile)

Received my Aurora 200mW.

Unfortunately my CR2 batteries are packed. None accompanying! Size of 2x CR2 is equal to 1x 14500, which gives the driver half the current. It barely starts lazing from this, but what I see is a perfectly round dot at close range and long range, with a seemingly great divergence!

The aperture hole is wider than the one on picture.

Edit: Which CR2 rechargeables do you recommend for ordering? Just the standard DX? I'll go down to my local store buying a pair of non-rechargeable in the meantime.

From DL concerning the 447 Spartan and the Beam expander:
------------
The lens cap of the 447nm Spartan lasers can be removed albeit with a fair bit of effort. I recommend using something rubber like dish washing gloves that will give you excellent grip when you try removing the lens cap.

The original beam expander is designed for lasers with a beam diameter of less than 2.5mm. It will still work with these lasers but there will be some power loss and a change in beam profile.
----------------

The Arctic has a advertised beam diameter at aperture of 1.5mm, but measured by other members at 2-4mm. So we shall see how much is cut off.

Anyone know when the second round of 447nm Spartans is shipping? I left a note with their "Live Support" a couple days ago and haven't heard back. I haven't tried emailing them.

Mine shipped out on the 2nd and got in the states on the 6th. Supposedly it's in NY now, so hopefully not to much longer now...

I ordered mine (1W version) 4 days ago, Frank told me it should ship within a week or so...

Hopefully mine will go out with it then. I ordered a 400mW on the 31st last month, so it's been 11 days now.

EDIT: Forgot to mention my findings at Sayal a couple posts ago. They did have one set of RCR123A batteries available, but no charger, and they were rated for 3.7V. I've ordered the LiFePo4 RCR123A batteries by AW from Lighthound instead, should be here in around a week and a half if I'm lucky.

Sorry for the double post, but I figured this deserves a bump. Just got an email back from Dragon Lasers about the 400mW I ordered, and he says it should go out today (translation, sometime in the next 7 hours or so). If it does, I'll be extremely pleased. :D

Just received a shipping notification (with tracking)
, since Italian customs are slow as hell I expect a minimum
of 20 days to receive it...

Yep, I received my shipping notification last night too. Sent through China EMS, which sucks for tracking because I can't automate it with my iPhone app. Oh well, I'll keep an eye on it manually.
