where do you get the block of aluminum you use to mount the mirrors and galvos on?

Looks great, the main reason I hate 40mm fans is that I hate fan noise. When my scanner runs there's only a faint hum from one internal 120mm fan that cools down all the internal components. I just find it strange that given the opportunity you still stay with the really small fans.

120mm fans....................

seriously............. way over kill.

40mm fans is all my projectors need, there is no heat inside at all. i dont have any fans on the top level cooling the laser, as its not needed.

when the music is pumping fan noise isnt a problem ;)

Yes in my case it certainly is overkill, but the case came with it installed so I figured why bother to remove it. In your case though I'd have rather put in one 80mm fan than two 40mms

I mainly run my scanner at home so fan noise is more of an issue for me than it is for you.

one fan would look silly.

the alum plate takes most of the heat so i have no issues at all.

Looks great, I am building my own 20k scanner but have problems finding anywhere to get a case.. the best I can get is old computer cases which I could mod myself and very thin metal plates and rods from a shop. I have galvos, amps, powersupply, cables, DMX and cooling fans.. but no heatsinking or case. A nice big lump of aluminium would make me happy.

looks good i hope to see the full color when its done.

one note: I think you should change that wing nut job you got going as those will wear out when you get all that weight on it. and you dont want your scanner suddenly floping over now do you? especially above a crowd of people.

good luck!

Sadly no, I am in Belgium. Shipping from the UK is not too expensive, but I can imagine that a lump of aluminium and a large case cost a lot to ship anyway because of bulk and weight.
Very nice video, the slow wave through a liquid sky has always been among my favourite effects!

Nice work Andy.

I see you put jack screws on your mirror mount, great ideal, I'll include them on my next batch of mounts.
