Shorted a switch + lens protrusion

Aha!! Why the heck didn't I think of that lol. Thanks! I’ll have to give it another go

Shorted a switch + lens protrusion

Hey LPF, Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I’ve been sick with strep since we got home from our trip. No fun! I forgot to ask this when I was putting my Laser66 build together. I’m not a fan of how far the lens protrudes from the host when focused to where I want it, which is just to a...

    Sharp 505nm max current?

Very nice. I have a driver that’s preset to 230mA. But I also just got a Groove 2 and Flex in the mail. Might have to mess around with it.

    Sharp 505nm max current?

    Awesome, thanks for the link!

    Sharp 505nm max current?

Hey LPF, I ordered the Sharp 505nm from DTR and was just wondering if any of you have pushed this diode beyond 100mA? I believe the data sheet said that was the max. The reason I ask is because many, including myself, push the Sharp 488nm above the data sheet’s max current. Figured it was...

    488nm Build! Finally!

Thanks Paul. I wish I could capture the accurate color on camera. It’s definitely not as blue as it looks in the photos. I absolutely love the color.

    488nm Build! Finally!

Thanks Rich! The soldering job on that driver looks amazing.

    488nm Build! Finally!

I’m excited to check it out!

    488nm Build! Finally!

It’s finally finished. If you look at my last post, you’ll see that I had an issue completing my circuit, which turned out to be a dummy battery that wasn’t making contact with the case. After removing some of the wrap, it was good to go. The Sharp 488nm diode, 12mm module and G8 lens are from...

    What am I missing?

Thanks! The driver works wonderfully. Can’t wait to put the other two to use!

    What am I missing?

I can’t believe I didn’t notice this before now. The dummy battery wasn’t making contact with the case because of the wrapping. Took a razor to it, now just a matter of assembly 👍

    What am I missing?

So this must mean the case pin is doing its job.

    What am I missing?

EDIT: Solved. See image below. Feel like an idiot now. Well.. thought I was on the right track with this 488nm pen. Apparently not. I have it set up where if I apply power to the driver, I get a nice beautiful beam. The switch, however.. I can’t figure out. I’ve attached a lead from the...

    Switch Question

    Happy Thanksgiving Paul!

    Switch Question

EDIT: False alarm. I jumped the gun. Searched one more thing and found a good explanation. Bad Seth!! 😜 Hey all, Getting close to this 488nm pen build after lunch today. But I was staring at these switches for the Laser66 pen hosts.. and now I feel like an idiot because I’ve just realized...

    Finally first “build”!

Thanks Paul. Definitely more to come

    Finally first “build”!

I did end up cutting them down quite a bit. I spent an embarrassing amount of time debating soldering the leads or going straight to the driver 🤦🏻‍♂️

    DTR NDB7875 3W 445nm

Appreciate the input. Also thanks for posting a link. I was about to start going on a 593nm hunt. I haven’t put much research into DPSS lasers. I think I’ve read their wavelengths can fluctuate with temperature and they typically need a little warmup time. But if it’s as easy as throwing that...

    DTR NDB7875 3W 445nm

Sounds good, appreciate that. I just saw Sanwu released a 593nm in their Pocket series. Tempting.. but I’d rather build one.
