    Repolish laser fiber

Hello again, thanks for the information! It seems to be a more common problem than i have thought of. I have just removed the broken part. The fiber is 600µm. I'll get the polishing stuff and keep you updated. Thanks!

    Repolish laser fiber

Hey folks, lately i scored a 50W SMA fiber coupled laser on ebay the other day. The fiber is perfect on the one side, but smashed on the other, so i have to polish it. I have seen Marco Reps on youtube doing this, but he had a bare fiber end. My fiber is surrounded by a stainless steel...

    574nm 36 mW Yellow Laser

Nice! Thanks for sharing! Does anyone know why there are 565 and 575 nm lasers available so cheaply now? I missed this whole story somehow :undecided:

    3D Printed Sharp GH04850B2G Build

Thanks all :). 3D printing is really nice for low power lasers because you can make what you want. I wanted to design a host which is easy to assemble. The layer height is 0.2mm and I used PETG filament.

    3D Printed Sharp GH04850B2G Build

Hi everyone, I got a few of these new Sharp diodes and decided to use one for a build. I had no fitting boost driver around, so I build one. It doesn't look that pretty, but it works perfectly. The input voltage can go down to 2.8V, so it works with a singe Li-Ion cell. Since I wanted the laser...

Possible to rescue this 473nm DPSS? - total EBay fail

Thanks for the responses. Is there any way to use those crystals? I assume that the YAG has similar damages. Has the LBO to be between mirrors to work? I always thought it just has AR coatings and converts the 1064nm light without being and optical resonator. Would it be possible to use a 1064nm...

Possible to rescue this 473nm DPSS? - total EBay fail

I have taken some photos of the LBO crystal and re-uploaded the previous pictures in higher resolution. The faces look really bad. I have taken one from the YAG too, but it is hard to reach. The LBO was wrapped in aluminum foil. There were no lenses or any other optics inside it. The laser cost...

Possible to rescue this 473nm DPSS? - total EBay fail

Hello everyone, I have bought a 473nm DPSS from E-Bay and was really happy to receive it today. After playing around a bit I was wondering why I did not get any delicious 473nm light. I noticed something rattling, so I opened it up. The following shocked me really hard. The pictures show what I...

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

These 505nm are really that high in wavelength? I was hoping to underdrive them at 5mW or so and get some 500nm-ish light. Well, I guess I will have to wait for some new diodes (unless nobody wants to sell a diode about 475-490nm heh..) I think we are pretty lucky in general when speaking of...

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Oh, really sad! Well i guess thats what you get when not watching the forum in a while. I guess I will wait then for the 488nm too.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Holy cow. Did't looked here for a few months and suddenly 505nm and 473nm diodes appear. That is sooo cool. It seems that 473 are not that available as 505 though. Does anybody know when I can get my hands on one? I have almost bought a 473nm DPSS last week lol.

Transplanting a working diode out of a dead drive

Sorry for the late response. I was taking some measurements today but without a heatsink, just in the 12mm module. I have none fitting around. The maximum current I was driving it with was 350mA. The output was 350mW, the voltagedrop was about 5.7V. At this current it started to get slightly...

Transplanting a working diode out of a dead drive

Hello everyone, i just got a Blu-Ray burner i shot on ebay for 20 bucks. That's a pretty good deal I would guess. The drive was a LG BH16NS40 one. So LG says it is a 16x/8x type. What driving current and output power can i expect? I ran it already at about 4.7V and 100mA. How far can I go? Here...

Arctic's Open Source RGB Laser Host

Wow, that's some incredible work ArcticDude! It's a shame, that I found this thread so late. Thanks for sharing. +rep

    3D Printed Host - 405nm build

Oh I really want a 520nm (and 465nm)! Well, there are still two 532nm modules laying around. First I will use them before getting new stuff. My todo list is quite long unfortunately.

    3D Printed Host - 405nm build

Thanks again :). It isn't that unconfortable, well it is quite edgy, but the edges aren't sharp. The host isn't cold to touch, because it is plastic. That's the reason the thermal dissipation isn't great. However the outputpower isn't that big, so it can run serval minutes before getting warm. I...

PSA: Cool down your 589s and check for extra lines!

I got a 50mW Spartan a few months ago. I let it cool down outside, but it does not emit any extra lines. Just 589nm and the regular modehopping occurs.

    3D Printed Host - 405nm build

Thank you :) I just made another pic in a steamy bathroom. Sorry for the angle. Directuplaod is a mess on a mobile phone.

    3D Printed Host - 405nm build

Hello everyone, about a year ago I got two 405nm modules from ebay. One was used to pimp my 3D printer. The main purpose for this was to expose uv-sensitive PCBs with it and etch custom PCBs. Well, that works quite okay, I made some PCBs and was able to do some other cool stuff but that's a...

Why and when do laser diodes shift in wavelegth?

Thanks for sharing this video. This looks pretty amazing. However it doesn't seem to be a very practical method. Sadly most diodes don't shift that much. Has anybody did some tests of different diodes? I have seen some threads where single diodes were tested and got some information on DTRs...
