Article about Osrams Green Laser diode

Here is a short article from this months EDM magazine concerning the new Osram Green Laser diode as already announced here. regards sbdwag

    More burning from sbdwag

heruursciences Yep Im looking forward to them. No more cylinder lens. Thanks for recommending them to me. I'm still holding up on mounting the 5w 808. Just playing around making sure I do not have any spurious current surges or noise spike that might destroy it. I worry about that big wire...

Tried to upload a gif animation and got this error

"Your file of 773.5 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 976.6 KB for this filetype" The gif was 640x480 and the file size was 773kb like it says. Regards sbdwag

    More burning from sbdwag

LarryDFW Could you tell me for sure what kind of lens this is. When I purchased from you, you said they were no longer going to make this kind and that you only had a few left. All I know is that its produces the strongest tightest red beam Ive every seen! Here are some photos. regards sbdwag

    More burning from sbdwag

I switched my Glass axis lens for a Meridith lens I purchased from LarryDFW a couple of months ago and I picked up mucho burn abilities. Again heres the specs 808nm 2W C-mount diode with Meridith Lens assembly running at 2800ma's It took about 3minutes to burn through this piece of pine wood...

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

Elektrofreak Thanks for the info. Sounds like I do not need a heck of a lot of tec. May be a small 40 watt with only a fan and a sink on the hot side. Im thinking about ways to regulate it. If I take a 14v pelter and put it on 5V's should drastically reduce the cooling capability. Perhaps just...

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

20C thats almost room temperature. Even at 2800ma's for 20 minutes the sink is barely getting warm to the touch. Im not sure that I should be worried about active cooling. regards sbdwag

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

You know Ive been there done that. I had a overclocked cpu on a 40cm2 pelter that was running at -16C at about twice clocked speed. The front side buss was the weak point and I could not cool it. I mounted two 120mm fans on a motorcycle radiator to cool the water jacket. This is probably...

    808nm 2W c-mount first shots video

Yep if the pencil lead had not been in the middle Im sure I could have easily cut it in half. Its not really a driver its just a resistances that lets a certain amount of current thru. In this case 2800ma's regards sbdwag

    My first laser build!

Paintbru5h 3.5 volts is the low end of L-ion's charge graph. When fully charged you will get 4.2 volts each so you will start out with 8.4 volts. With the millamps you will be drawing from these batteries you will probably get a couple of hours of use before they get close to the 3.5v cutoff...

    808nm 2W c-mount first shots video

Here is my first video of the new heatsink/collimator in action on the 808nm labby. Im running the diode at 2800ma's and everything is looking very good. I will probably hold up on the 5W until I add some active cooling to the sink based on some good recommendations here on the forum but I have...

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

It could be. But it would be much cheaper to buy a Meredith Module for 45 bucks and Buy you a piece of copper and drill or ream a 1/2 hole in it for the module. You could use aluminum too. regards sbdwag

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

My problem is I built this at work on my lunch hour and after work. Im a designer by trade but worked in Tool and die for many years. I really do not have access to the equipment to do anything for other than myself. But If you were to submit this design to someone to build it. I would...

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

Just finished up the machining of the Heatsink/Collimator for my soon to be operational 5W 808nm Labby. Here are some photos and a picture of the design If anyone is interested I can supply them with Solidworks and or dxf's of the design. Im using a Aixiz glass lens assembly to focus and then...

Waiting on my 5w C-mount diode

Laserbee Thanks for the comments. Im thinking about adding a voltmeter or ampmeter. Since this is really not a constant current device rather a series resistance device Im looking for fluctuations in current. It would be cool to monitor the voltage across the laser diode but more practical to...

Waiting on my 5w C-mount diode

Millirad Yep i plan on being safe Im concerned about focusing the 5W without safety glasses on I will probably shield myself behind a camera. I got the C-mount diodes from Chris the other day almost have the machining done on my heatsink/collimator mount (I will post pics and a print of the...

    635nm vs 642nm & sources for diodes

My facts about Heruursciences from sbdwag I cannot speak for anyone else but here are my facts. Ordered a couple of 1W 808nm 9mm diodes for $25 each. Took about a week to receive. Right now Im still burning with the first one at 1700mw's and am very pleased Ordered a 2W C-mount 808nm for...
