I already have accidently fried two perfectly good SLD1239JL-54 16x diodes by making careless mistakes in my homemade Daedal DDL driver circuit. In order to prevent mistakes on my third attempt, I want to know if there are such things as cheap diodes with similar electrical tolerance thresholds...
Re: Question about multimeter and driver perfomanc
So your saying that without a 470 ohm resistor, just turning the switch to the off position and turning it back on would fry a diode?! If that was so, then why was it not mentioned in daedals driver forum?
Re: Question about multimeter and driver perfomanc
Your picture is very helpful, it's now clear on were to put the resistor. Just my only question are should I ignore the part that says to put the 4 1n diodes if I don't want to measure voltage? Also another thing I just want to let you know...
Re: Question about multimeter and driver perfomanc
Are you saying to put a 470 ohm resistor were I already have the capacitor or are you saying to get another capacitor? If so, what type of capacitor and how many microfaurads should it be? Would doing this allow me to measure amperage...
Right now I am currently using a daedal DDL driver for my SLD1239JL-54 16x DVD diode. I designed my driver so I could measure amperage while I run the laser diode. I did this by soldering the leads to a multimeter into the circuit like in this photo
I currently have the driver set to 250...
I don't want to spend all that money on expensive laser goggles but I am worried about safety. I would like to know if a shape 13 welding lens would protect against lasers emitted by a SLD1239JL-54 laser diode at over 200 mW? Without safety goggles would simply avoiding direct eye exposure be...
1st question- I remember reading a blog saying that a diode has to be fitted in an axis module "PROPERLY". Is there a certain way you have to put a SLD1239JL-54 16x diode inside the axis module to burn or do you just snap it in?
2nd question- After being told that a SLD1239JL-54 diode needs a...
If this is the right heatsink, for setting up the axis module loaded with an SLD1239JL-54 16x to handle more then 200 mAmps? If it is then can I buy one from you? I would just like the heatsink for it. Thanks
But a heatsink is like square shaped how exactly does it fit onto a laser diode? Does anyone have a picture of an axis module with a heatsink? Does it have to be certain type of heatsink? If so were can I buy it?
I finished attaching the SLD1239JL-54 16x laser to my driver and I adjusted it to 128 milliamps. The laser is not burning stuff but is making a nice bright red circle. Is 128 milliamps not enough to burn stuff with? Do I need to get the 3 or 4 ohm resister instead? Also, what type of heat sink...
Personally it does not matter to me how much the power other then if its enough power to burn stuff like matches, tape, and be able pop balloons. So as I understand you are saying that I got everything right except the batteries? So if it's the batteries, were exactly can I find a battery holder...
