    evaluation 30mW green laser!!

this laser is a 30mW green, sent to me for evaluation and review by optotronics, who are *considering* selling them. the laser arrived, packaged nicely, bubblewrapped and in a nice simple black cardboard box with a magnetic latch. being cardboard, i'm not sure how well the box will last over...

my new toy - pocket microscope!!

i ordered this *ages* ago and it finally arrived today, after i'd forgotten about it even - pocket illuminated microscope!!! it does 100x magnification, and lights things with a white LED, seeing stuff this close up is fun. hair looks like spaghetti! colour printing looks like psychedelic random...

    AtlasNova <5mW 635nm pointer review

my atlasnova <5mW 635nm arrived in the post today, yay! it came in a rather cheap looking and feeling plastic case, with batteries, but you know, who cares about the case? it also seems that every laser company seems to want to mark their product as a $15 pen light... not that i'm complaining...

    someone (WL?) really hates laserchat!

something really odd happened in my chatroom, laser chat, last night. for those of you who weren't there, i'm gonna be pasting a log of it here (some lines cut for more briefness, and one swearword censored with *** - the word rhymes with "micky", for anyone who can't guess :P). anyway, this guy...

    dreamlasers 635nm prices

    i emailed dreamlasers yesterday, asking what the prices were on their 635nm modules, 10-400mW. i thought this info might be useful/interesting for others, so here it is: module | price for 1-49 | 50-99 | 100+ 10mW | $40.00 | $34.00 | $32.00 20mW | $235.00 | $199.75 | $188.00 100mW |...

just bought an Atlasnova 635nm <5mW

i've seen a lot of fuss lately over 635nm, and at some point i'd love a high powered one. but for now, i've decided to try out an atlasnova <5mW 635nm, $24 + $8 shipping to UK, i can then compare it against the <1mW and <5mW 650nm (or maybe 660? i'm not sure) reds i have, and the pulsar 125! i...

i find this... odd about Techlasers:

if i remember everything correctly, techlasers stated that they weren't gonna send any units to people here for review, that such reviews were pointless because they were selling the exact same units as other manufacturers (yeah, right), but... 3 days ago, nero_design (who - i may be wrong...

    class II greens?

does anyone know of any cheap class II (<1mW) green lasers? a friend wants a laser to play with her cats, and if a cat's eye is anything like a human eye i'd guess green would be brighter to them too... and with <1mW she'd probably not have to be too worried about damaging the cat's eyes...

    488nm handhelds?

just have to ask - does anyone think 488nm (or thereabouts) will become feasible in handheld lasers within the next few years? i know *i'd* really love one, and i'd probably be more willing to pay the high prices on a cyan laser than on a blue, seems a lot prettier to me! :)

a good way to mark WL's dragon cases

as many of us know, one of the few, good value, reliable and well built items Wicked Lasers sell is..... the dragon case. i love my dragon cases! there are 4 of them in my house, soon to be more, and it does help to mark them to tell what lasers are inside, whether it be a core or a nova lasers...

lasers and thermal paper - funnest thing ever!!

while idly trying to burn black ink on the label of a box of pills, i discovered something...the label was printed on thermal paper! this is the funnest thing ever ever ever (yes, i'm easily entertained at times) - with my pulsar i can (slowly and shakily) write on the white paper! :) it just...

    homemade laser projector

i was googling laser projectors when i found a rather interesting project by someone to make a laser projector, i'd really love to build one of these (and being a geek, use it as a linux terminal display) and i thought i should share the link here: http://elm-chan.org/works/vlp/report_e.htmlwhat...

my first Wicked Lasers order (ever)

well i just today recieved my first ever order from wicked lasers, and my first ever class 3b lasers (so i'm new at this :P)... it's a mixed experience. first of all, there's also a core i recieved in the post on the same day, seems like a nice <5mW green laser for the price, a tiny bit...

    Laser chatroom

I've created an IRC chatroom for lasers, named "laser chat", if anyone's interested :) the java page to access this is http://laserchat.org (or alternatively http://xmoogle.org/laserchat/ ) and if you have a real IRC client, the server is irc.ecnet.org and channel name is "#laserchat". if...

    price per mW comparison table

while trying to figure out which high powered green laser i should go for when i can afford it, i wrote a C++ program to work out the price per mW of various lasers, to compare prices. obviously, price isn't the only thing to consider when buying a laser, but i felt it may be informative so here...

    Hi!! *bounces* :)

hi! i'm marianne, a geeky girl from the south of england, i just joined the forums and if my typos seem odd it's because i use a dvorak layout keyboard! :) i've always been interested in science and computers, been programming since i was 8, i use debian linux, lasers are also something that've...
