I just got one, and it looks neat so far. Two quick questions. I got it from Laser Pointer Store, and ordered a pair of safety glasses from them. They weren't very expensive, but still should be OK to use, right? There is no marking on the lens, so I don't know what wavelengths they block or...

That is what my green laser does now. The spot on the wall is probably 4-5" across when I have it focused close, but that laser is under 100 mW.

If I have it set up on my desk for burning, I just want to have the beam terminate on something besides the wall. At what distance will a 2W 445 laser no longer burn things?

Wondering what you use to safely stop a beam? I'm getting a 2W PL-E mini from jetlasers, and am assuming it's not good to just have it pointed at a wall or something.

Question about the batteries: on Jet's website, it says they recommend two 18350 batteries, not the 16340 mentioned above. What's the difference? P.S. I was looking at the 2W 445 blue, so maybe that's why?

Anyone know of a small case that could hold a couple of lasers? Maybe something that has customizable foam cutouts inside?

Thanks. Are you talking about without glasses? I'm thinking it should be fine to look at the spot, even up close, with the appropriate safety glasses.

Just got this Eagle Pair of safety glasses (190-540 + 900-1700). First impression? Very nice :cool: Being new to this, I didn't know what to expect, but it's really surprising how it makes my green laser disappear, except for a tiny, tiny dot. Keep in mind, it's one of the overpowered "5 mW"...

Really? I read that 405nm is the best for burning. Then again, I've also read that other wavelengths are good, too. It's hard to know since there's a lot of conflicting info out there. Anyway, we'll see. Being relatively new to all this, I didn't want to start off with a monster laser...

Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to get one of those 200 mW Sanwu pocket lasers in violet. My safety glasses cover that part of the spectrum already. If I went with red, I'd have to get another set of glasses. I'm mostly interested in trying some burning, so figure this might be a good...

Is there any UV danger posed by these violet lasers? If I'm not mistaken, UVA ends at 400nm, and these are 405nm.
