1.5W NDG7475 in Custom Ehgemus Host W/ Acrylic Focus Adapter

What are you using for your light saber host? I've been wanting to build one, and I've considered one of Saber Forge's hilts. Yep, just clear acrylic with a hollow center for the beam to pass through. I was surprised at how much light it still picked up/diffused without actually touching the beam.

1.5W NDG7475 in Custom Ehgemus Host W/ Acrylic Focus Adapter

Hello again my friends. I had several Ehgemus hosts laying around, and someone contacted me requesting an NDG7475 build, so I decided to build it into one of them. This host is one that I snatched up as soon as he posted because I just knew the acrylic focus adapter would look sweet. I refused...

    1W NUGM01T 520nm Laser Diode

Yep, right there with the 7475.

    Another Bad Customer

This. Waiting until it updates is what doesn't make sense. I get the intention, but if he had waited until the tracking information updated, it would appear to the buyer that he hadn't honored his ship date. You are exactly right in saying that you can't get away from these types of people. If...

    1W NUGM01T 520nm Laser Diode

When I purchased this diode as soon as it came out, I just knew it would drop in price as soon as I bought it. I actually bought two before the price drop. Lol. But I'm perfectly fine with it, I knew there was a good chance of that when I made the purchases. Glad we're getting some more green...

    solder/diode issue

Hate that I am just now seeing this, but something I would suggest is to try to heatsink the diode if at all possible. I know you can't press it into one of DTR's modules the way it is, but if you could find some other way to somehow heatsink it while you work on it, that would GREATLY lessen...

    Laser powered razor

Can you prove that what you just said is the absolute best that they could possibly achieve? Are you more experienced in fiber optics or laser skin/hair treatment than they are? I'm with you on being skeptical. What I'm not with you on is making statements like 'The best they could POSSIBLY do...

    Laser powered razor

Purely a guess on my part, but maybe the actual "cutting" edge is so small that it only burns a miniscule amount of hair, which isn't enough to create a detectable smell? Again, only a guess. But they did say that it "doesn't actually burn the hair", didn't they? As for stuff sticking to the...

    Laser powered razor

I'd give you +100 rep if I could. I saw this on Kickstarter this morning, and came here to see if LPF had been discussing it yet. I was incredibly surprised to find so many LPFers so eager to scream "this is a fraud". You know what it reminds me of? This guy who messaged me the other day who...

    NDB7875 Run Time

I BELIEVE it is both the limited duty cycles and the fact that they are pushed much harder when serving their normal purposes in laser projectors. I believe the main cause of laser diode failure is heat, and that as long as you keep it from overheating, it will live a fairly safe life. The 1.7A...

NDB7875 Winked out and I don't know why?

Do you have a test load that you could test the driver with?

    Windows 10 , Have you?

Or an SSHD. I got one, and I absolutely love it. For almost everything I do, it is blazingly quick, and it's a several-year-old laptop. Haven't tried Skype on it yet. I normally use my Xbox One, phone, or tablet for Skype. And I don't game on my PC. What is CS:GO?

    NUGM01T Build

I compared again last night, and it's much closer than I thought. They are both extremely bright. My wife said she thought the NUBM07E was brighter, while I was struggling to make a decision one way or the other. My NUBM07E is over 5 watts.

    New 520nm diode on DTR's site (1W) NUGM01T

I should be able to let you know tonight. I've got both diodes on hand now. I'm hoping that first one was a low output one and that we see some higher numbers out of these. If not, 1.3 watts of 520nm+ is still amazingly bright. :)

Need people interested in 6X cylindrical pairs for the NUBM44

I'll go on for one pair.

"Zombie Killer" 3.3 Watt 445 Build

Edited OP to clarify the module not being flush. I have built 10 or 12 of these now, and I have done thermal testing on 5 so far. Flushing the module makes for an almost unobservable difference in diode temp. I don't want people who may potentially buy a laser from me seeing these posts and...

[SOLD]: 1.8+ Watt 445nm "Sabre" laser

Re: For Sale: 1.8+ Watt 445nm "Sabre" laser So you're saying the beam is smaller with that single element than with a 3-element?

    Take the diode out.

I agree with CEL. How is removing the diode going to magically make it stronger? It would also help to know what laser you are referring to. This is kind of like going to a general car forum and saying "Hey guys, I have a car. I want to make it faster. How do I do so?" The most likely answer to...

    Laserbee 3.7W USB Driver Issues

Depends on how high you anticipate going when you do build. The Laserbee 3.7W USB is a decent option if you don't think you'll go any higher than that. Though I would keep an eye out on ebay for any Ophir LPMs that happen to show up for around the same price. Just make sure they're still...
