Not a simple question to answer - and I'm not the ideal guy to ask, to be honest. It depends partly on the heatsink, partly on the diode's efficiency (which varies quite a bit with the 445nm diodes), and partly on the driver. And even then it's hard to say. Some people on the forum will argue...

Ok, with one high-power diode it won't affect a HUGE area, but maybe a circle with a 5cm or so diameter? I'm assuming your current diode is projecting a circle with a diameter of a few millimetres. That's some improvement at least. It seems like otherwise you'd have to DIY if you want to cover...
