Tantalum capacitors with reversed polarity. Now there's a definite fire hazard. I had one in a laser host once for battery decoupling, a friend put the battery in the wrong way (no-one seems to understand the concept of case positive) And well, that was a bit of a bang.

Yes, I did ship it back, on the 15th. I have the receipt if you want. My local post office doesn't offer tracking on international packages, but the parcel is registered, so if it takes too long, I can ask for an update. When I've sent to China before, it's taken up to 2 and a half weeks...

I have had this in a few of my builds, it goes away after awhile, doesn't it? It's just some leftover charge in the capacitors.

Now all you need is some 510nm, and your gamut will be complete. :P 510 cuts of that bluish green corner. But seriously, nice projector, and great pics.

I went to that gallery today, truly amazing, if you're in sydney... GO AND SEE IT. It closes on tuesday. Also, they have a CuBr running about 5 of the holograms there. First time seeing 510nm and 587nm.

I would say a match wouldn't work. With a match, there is too much heat coming with the smoke (even if it's blown out) that would create convection currents that would prevent particles getting stuck in the beam. Go ahead and try though.

Out of curiousity... How did they break it? Shockproof, waterproof. The drop tests I've done represent a normal drop that the laser could experience, and it survived fine.
