Because the world isn't perfect & stupidity continues to prevail as people continue evolving(?) It's just another reason the world is probably going to end sometime late next year..... I say this everytime another facepalm moment like this occurs. Well that and catching a bit of todays pop music here and there. Unfortunately you're going to see a lot more of this globally in the months to come & yes it's another jab towards criminalizing high power hand held lasers everywhere. :mad:

I haven't even received my first laser kit in the mail and I know that is a major no no...I know here in the USA there are huge fines and jail time associated with that. Like to a point where it would cause a young person such as I (20) to go bankrupt not to mention having a felony on your record. Personally they should make an example out of that kid.

It amazes me sometimes, with the exception of teenagers who 'really dont know' just how much trouble you can get in from what seems to be an otherwise harmless act out of fun and curiousity - that common sense fails in ways like this today and even tomorrow.
EDIT: thanks for your rep mpwm, I hope things get better down under so your hobby isn't considered criminal forever :beer:

I'm just happy I'm not a dumb@as like some people out there....people who lack common sense do things like flash lasers without first thinking hmmm what do lasers go on...guns? RPG's? Then again those kind of people have also been known to look down a gas tank using a lighter for light.
 
What I think is equally stupid is nanny state govt banning things to make the world safer!
Look how well banning firearms and knives in UK worked! Lasers should be there for people to use. If we banned everything that was used improperly there'd be nothing left!

Smart governments educate, lazy Governments ban!

You can't legislate against stupidity.

The dr and Seoul are correct.
Here in Ohio it is now legal to carry concealed in a bar.
Not that I ever would but laws never stopped stupid or bad people from doing anything

Same thing goes here in Kuwait (where i live) because of Stupid Idiot Childish people :gun: lasers are banned !. They kept pointing at aircraft & helicopters (like the one in Australia) & before you know it... its now unlegal.

but still... having stupid people working in customs who only knows to confiscate weapons,Drugs... etc is a surplus :) they know nuthing about lasers !

I remember back in 2008 when i ordered my 75mW Viper from DL & a custom dude came to my house asking me to come pick my shipment from them. So i went there & the custom dude told me whats in the package ? i told him a Laser ! (i know i was DUMB :oops:) the custom dude quickly took the package from me & said sorry but icant allow you to take it !! i started acting smart & told him dont you think am old enough to handle a laser ? He said yes .. & asked me whats the maximum pointing range of your laser ? I lied to him & said 1KM only ! (lasers can reach much much more) he responded "WoW !! thats too much. but sorry i cant let you take it".

In the end i got my laser out after finding i have a relative who works there lol :D ! yay (it broken now tho :()

just wanted to share some of my dumb laser stories that goes here where i live :D

Here in Brazil some idiots pointed green lasers to airplanes landing at the airport and now there is talk about banning lasers here too...

Seems to be a problem in basically every single major city with an airport. Especially any city with a large tourist turnover.

Unfortunately there is no shortage of idiots:(
