So my close buddy has a 100mw green laser from DL, no glasses, and completely a idiot, i have told him to pick up glasses for it to protect his eye's and he wont, last night i busted him shinning it into house's and at stop sign and across the lake at more house's. i have told him i was gonna take it and break it so he dont mess anyone's eyes up or his own. Does anyone know any better ways i can get it through his head, like any links to video's of someones eye's really messed up from laser's.

Tell him you'll report him to the authorities...
Send him to this Forum to be wised up in Laser
Safety...

Maybe a slightly more graphic example :

Take a nice round juicy grape, and a long sharp needle.
Hold up the grape and slowly push the needle into the stem hole and through the back.
While doing this tell him how the needle is the "laser beam" and the grape is an "eye".
"The beam enters the pupil (stem hole) and passes through to the back of the eye. With enough power it will burn a small hole in the back of the eye, boiling off vital fluids and maybe even exploding cells with a noticeable POP."
Pull out the needle and show him the small hole.
"Now that hole is really quite small but it will never work as it should again. You probably wouldn't even notice it was there. After a while it will fill in with a bit of scar tissue."
Now take the grape and put it down on something and poke through it dozens of more time quickly. Then give it back to him to look at.
"But given a few more `accidental' exposures you will really be aware of the problems. You won't ever get the sight back. It's gone for good. When/if you make it to 60 years of age and your vision is 60% of what it was when you were young and you only have about 60% of that you will effectively be blind."
Then take the grape and EAT IT ! (just for the extra dramatic punch.)
Then point out that he could be doing that to someone else without even knowing it.

If you play it up right, being all serious and "scientific" like the drama will reinforce the lesson and probably make it stick. The more little details and casual comments you add while doing this will really personalize it all too. (ex: You know grapes are really good examples for eyes. The little hole here being just about right for the pupil on your own eye. And the inside being mostly fluid....)
Then you can both eat the rest of those "eyes". In the future whenever he eats grapes he will remember your little lesson !

Is he an immature person? How old or I should ask, how young is he?

Unfortunately most people learn from their own mistakes.

Just buying safety glasses isn't enough. What about the person's eyes in the houses he was shining the laser at?

If he wants to be stupid and blind himself that's one thing but blinding an innocent bystander is NOT acceptable! :tsk:

Sadly his behavior is exactly what will encourage lawmakers to make more and more laws restricting and banning lasers.

I can fully appreciate not turning a friend in to the law. But remind him, if he keeps using the laser the way he has been, i.e. shining it into houses, etc. it will only be a matter of time before someone else will report him.

If he is truly a good friend he will listen to what you are trying to explain to him. I hope he wises up pronto.
