Very interesting....

My laser just shipped after a week of processng, the 50mw chrome greenie. Hopefully everything goes well and my laser is in the 40-50mw range. after sneaking around the forums fo a little while, and reading all the great reviews on o-like as a distributor, i ordered the laser with a little confidence. now i`m worried. will keep you posted, and do a review when i get the laser....

good luck to us all recent buyers and godspeed ;)

What my "spider sense" is telling me (where my "spider sense" is a well-honed skill for associating information and inferring likely conclusions) is this.

O-like smells to me very much like a company, where the hands-off "invisible higher managers" that you never see or know the names of, have told the lower level hands-on managers to quietly change the product quality and service practices of the company, because the higher-ups want to get more profit out of the enterprise.

And so what we have been seeing and hearing from O-like lately is a reflection of a systemic change in company practices, which they believe (perhaps incorrectly) will pump up their profit margins.

That's just my "spider sense" tingling... Maybe nothing, maybe not.

As for me, I have a LOT of O-like product, that I am very happy with (after a recent painful RMA experience to replace a very bad item, which I've talked about too much here already).

But I will not be touching ANYTHING from O-like again, until we have a critical mass of NEW, Enthusiastic reviews about their products and services.

Mailed them again via direct mail & contact form on their web site. No response as of yet.

What frustrates me most is that I cannot claim my money or take any legal action afaik... Ideas?

Ahh, how very sad.:cryyy:
And to think I paid an extra 15 dollars for a 50mw over DX, because I thought there would be a higher chance of it being a good laser. But the laser is already shipped overseas, so it is going to be in the hands of customs soon. I was expecting a long shipping time, but for having ordered it on 7/22/11 and it having been shipped overseas only on 8/1/11 was a little surprising. Thankfully I did not spend hundreds like some people here.....

^^^Your laser will probably be perfectly fine, and actually 50mW. I've tested two o-like 50mW lasers, and both were on spec (one was actually quite overspec).

It's when you start approaching the higher powers like 150mW and 200mW with the cheaper modules (which are used in >200mW lasers) when there is more of a gamble in terms of output.

I guess im the only exception to LOVING o like lasers. I bought there 400mW green torch focusable laser(old style). I ordered on June 27 2001 and recieved on July 30 2001 with no problems. I even had update emails on my shipping of the laser. I recieved it in a very timely matter (not like wicked) and was very pleased with it except a very minor dent in the top of the laser. It has worked for me since and i have had no problems with it at all. I have MANY videos posted of its power, brightness, and burning abilitly on you tube. I love this laser and plan on buying from o like again. they actually have a very good deal on a 250mW red laser for about 60 bucks!! You must understand if 5,000 people buy a product about 100 of those people will have a complaint its just the way it is. Nothing is perfect. Please check out my you tube channel @ emurccmailliw. i have other videos on there like the dino direct 1W blue laser. Check it out! thanks :)

Less convincing chat log added from 2011-08-08 & 2011-08-09. Now they actually claim they received it 19 days after the official postal delivery records. I would guess Not.

Considering the track record I'm gonna stop recommending o-like to people... besides, seems there is a new player in town, and he's making a great effort to win over this community.

I recently grabbed a 400mw torch from O-Like that is very solid and at spec but that seems very hit or miss from what I see here and that is not good. My 300mw fire dragon peaks at over 400 and holds 382 av on a 90 second run and was cheaper.

Got my refund of $299.98. First paypal subtracted $12 in PP fees, which they initially refused to replace. After pushing very hard for an explanation for how this could possibly be my problem them choosing to use PayPal I got an additional $12 refund.

They refuse to pay any of my $120 S&H cost. That's their policy.

There's no reason for them not to credit the full amount paid when refunding. WHen you issue a refund with paypal for a transaction, PayPal only deducts the post fee amount from your account, but credits the full amount payed back to the buyer. SO not sure they wouldn't want to refund the paypal fees when they wouldn't have had to pay them either.
