This is a short review of my recent experience with O-Like.
I know that most of you probably have good experience with O-Like. Hopefully this is an one time incident.
I am posting it because I am as of now without a laser and without a refund, and O-Like owe me about $270. And on top of this, their support ignore my messages on both MSN and e-mail. I have proof of returned laser by post tracking number.
If you don't care about reading a long post, summary goes:
O-Like refuses to respond to communication. They lie about packet delivery status. And they owe me a lot of money. On top of this they have cost me a LOT of money in return shipment. They have in total sent me 2 underspec lasers. And wasted over half a year of my time dealing with other things.

Got my refund at 2011-08-11. They do not refund any S&H, and their policy is to Not to refund any PayPal fees for the transaction.
I would not recommend ordering from them when we have new and fresh laser competition in town.

So....
I was looking for an awesome 532nm pen on a budget. As many probably are. Ran across their 350mW at $190-something? This host type laser. Including shipping it turned out $224.98.
At the time it was displayed as an IR filtered 350-400mW laser at $196.99. Ordered it the same day.
This was 2010-10-23. Just after it's launch.
It arrived 2011-11-02. I put it in the LPM first thing, and got quite disappointed.
Following was sent to o-like:
310mW may seem like a good peak. But bear in mind that this was a one time peak. Mostly it was horribly unstable and the divergence was unacceptable (even after refocusing), especially at the transverse modes described.
Got a prompt reply:
Replied:
The product above was the massive green 350mW at a slightly higher price. It is unfortunately not available anymore.
Got this very interesting response back. Full disclosure. Sorry O-like.
Conducted further tests. Concluded the same. Very SMALL peaks at 270mW with IR-filter. Inserting additional IR-filter gave another 4% power loss (opposed to the almost 40% reduced by the first filter) showed an enormous amount of IR radiation.
On MSN we agreed on me sending it back ($40 shipping cost from Sweden, I had to pay for it in full). After the laser was returned we agreed on purchasing an IR filtered 350mW green laser with a steady duty time and huge heatsink, and I would put $75 extra to O-like. Done deal.
This was 2010-12-19.
It was one of these hosts. Looking at them it's probably the same c***p sent out from same distributor.
Received this one after christmas in January.
Testing it in the LPM I got a steady result, but nowhere near 350mW. O-Like had removed IR filter before shipping. Got same about 30% falloff with IR filter. And around 200mW steady output.
Requested remedy from O-Like via MSN. After a lot of argumentation and explanation to O-Like how IR filters operate and why the measurements were accurate (probably took me about one week) they agreed on taking it back.
Sending it back in February.
After about 3 months I got the packet returned to me. When checking the tracking number I could only see "Failed delivery". Noted that I *ALWAYS* copy/paste their addresses and print on a label putting on the packet. So if there was something wrong with the delivery address I did not cause it.
Receiver label was not damaged on packet on re-arrival here.
That's another $40 to waste...
Contacted O-Like again. This was in June. They had already forgotten all about my order of course. So had to start all over.
After a while we agreed on sending it back for full refund ($40 again...). I shipped it in July.
I have above a confirmed signed delivery from O-Like.
Our last MSN dialog looked like:
No response via E-mail either.
My faith in O-Like as a company has dropped significantly.
They owe me $196 + $75 in pure laser products (original laser + upgrade). They have cost me around $120 in return shipments. And now they lie about delivery status, and when proven wrong they are just silent.
Update 2011-08-03:
May have some hope for resolution
2011-08-08 & 2011-08-09:
Same good response as always.. :shhh: :can:

Got my refund of $299.98. First paypal subtracted $12 in PP fees, which they initially refused to replace. After pushing very hard for an explanation for how this could possibly be my problem them choosing to use PayPal I got an additional $12 refund.
They refuse to pay any of my $120 S&H cost. That's their policy.
They are also very suspicious why I have received two bad lasers when they apparently have very tight quality control.
This is after tons of measurement data & graphs etc have been delivered to them during all of this.
Peace

mhakali said:Doing a beam expansion shows that the beam is not in TEM00. I have been cycling it for the recommended duty cycles for about 10 minutes of usage in total. And it jumps around like crazy between different transverse modes! Most of the times it sits in what looks like TEM03.
The power output peaks at over 390mW without any IR filtering. It however quickly becomes obvious that the output contains a lot of IR. With an IR filter it barely reaches 310mW, and stabilizes around 200mW (this is compared to 380mW without IR filter, almost 180mW IR!).
When I placed the order the following information was available at your product page:
"Output Power (IR filtered) 350-400mW"
It has since then changed to:
"Output Power >350mW"
I can understand your changing the specifications. But as you may understand I feel a bit disappointed in the performance of this pointer. Most especially due to the transverse mode.
Please get back to me on your thoughts about this.
I may just have received a bad unit?
310mW may seem like a good peak. But bear in mind that this was a one time peak. Mostly it was horribly unstable and the divergence was unacceptable (even after refocusing), especially at the transverse modes described.
Got a prompt reply:
O-Like said:Yes ,it is really our mistake to write "IR filtered" ,
I wonder how much time do you test it ? our suggestion is 1 minute ,I can not believe it can drop 200mW within 1 minute .
Pls let me know more details . we checked carefully before shipped .
Change or refund are acceptable if you are not satisfied . we gurantee 100% satisfication .Don't worry

mhakali said:I will do some more in detailed tests today, and get back to you.
But first I will have to complete a working day.
But yes, I will most likely want to return the unit. Mostly because the beam does not stay in TEM00. Which for me is important.
I am considering returning and upgrading to http://www.o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=41
Is this possible? Is that model recommended? How can I expect power output from this one in comparacy?

O-like said:Pls first clarify our output power ,I can not believe it just 200mW after IR filter , members on LPF will be disappointed on this laser after your review
you'd better test it within 1 minute .if it is 310mW after IR filter ,it is reliable.
