Hello, Im new here!
Ive always been interested in green lasers and i have been looking around this forum and in the buying your first green laser guide i found that you can actually order a green laser for less than $40 shipped.
Now i know im going to get a cheepy laser that's going to be way under spec. i really only want it for playing around at night at the beach, impressing my friends ect.

Why under $40?
because its what i happen to have left over in my pay pal. This is going to be my first laser and i don't mind if its a cheap one. If i get into it ill gladly buy a much more expensive laser at a later time. this $40 has no other use to me right now.

Before someone says something about just add more, i cant I am unemployed right now. so it has to be under $40 shipped.

I would prefer something in the 100mw range so when its underspec it will still be above 50. something with a rechargeable battery and a charger would be good. some of the rayfoss come with a battery but dont say if they include a charger or not.

So first i found this:
http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP1076.htm

This is under my budget and seems alittle too cheap.

Then i found rayfoss. they offer quite a few in my price range, i almost just impulsively bought one. that's when i thought to make this post and ask people with tons of experience
i was looking at this one:
http://www.rayfoss.com/productn.asp?ArticleID=111

There is also Tmart wish has some really powerful lasers in my range, but im worried about quality at that point.
im looking for a really visible beam.

So that's as far as ive been. any help would be great. as soon as i get some good feed back ill go ahead and make a order.
I would be willing to do a nice write up and review on the laser i buy for the forum aswell.

Yep, the Rayfoss one would be ok.
Also, check out this one from O-Like, I bought a couple and they're pretty bright.
Also, itemquickship has been selling members some inexpensive overspec units as well.

good luck,
be safe!

I have a review in my signature of a 50mW Greenie from Budgetgadgets. It's $31 shipped and I've been very happy with it!

DO NOT GET THE LEDShoppe 50mW! In my review, I compare it to the Budgetgadgets 50mW and as you'll see, it's quite awful.

Good luck on your hunt for a laser!

That's great! You should say so in the review thread. I think that whole affiliate thing brought it down a bit.

Are you going to do a review of it? I'm curious to hear how it performs.

hey, I just wanted to know if anyone could help me out here. I'm trying to find a laser at about the same price the original person was asking for, not because i can't buy a more expensive one, but because I'm starting out with lasers and i want to buy one that's under $40 that is really good quality for the price. So I was wondering if anyone could update this thread a bit and help me out here.
thank you!!!
(I would prefer green because it shows to be more bright, but if there is any other color that decides to be brighter, I could go with that as well)

I don't know about this seller, but these are often 40-60 mw, sometimes more, buy several and you will probably get one or two reasonably good ones with extra power. Find some protective laser glasses too, this can blind.

This thread is 8 years old... but the best quality green laser for under $40 is the laserglow anser, assuming you are only concerned with quality and not output.

It may only be 5mW but that makes it legal which is nice and you don't have to be as careful with it as you would with other lasers (but don't point it in your eyes of course). It has excellent beam specs and is honestly one of my favorite lasers because I can use it way more often than say my 1W 532nm.

I concur regarding the build quality for that pointer, low power, but very nice. I bought one from Hap.
