Here I use my 445nm labby to shoot out a webcam. In the video I show views from both the outside and from the webcam itself.

If a laser can do this to an electronic device, imagine what it can do to an eye, which is much more sensitive. This shows why you need to wear goggles!

lesson learned: Don't point a laser at your eyes for 10 seconds when fully focused.

I felt famous when I saw that clip. :D

i could see this being useful for robberies lol
It's probably pretty hard to aim and actually hit the sensor from a distance. Maybe not though, either way it is still a threat.

Cyparagon did the same thing with a CO2 laser as well

That's cool how he did it in bursts before he completely destroyed it.

Hehe. the 2W 445 just fried the CCD, The co2 fried the entire camera. Wish I could see what it looked like after it'd had a hole punched through it heh.

Meh, its not much more practical than a can of spraypaint, now is it?

Surely it could be done from a bit of distance, but it only works when the laser is in view of the camera, otherwise you can't hit the sensor either. For it to be useful you'd have to aim from a pretty great distance (such that you are only a few pixels tall on the image).
