Hey guys, so I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to lasers, but I know exactly what I'm after, so I was wondering if you could help me out.

-1W or more (primary use would be burning, not stargazing or randomly pointing at stuff)
-Handheld and reasonably sized
-Decent battery life (at least 30 min. preferably)
-Visible, so probably blue and definitely no IR burners
-Waterproof (not terribly important, but would be nice)
-Well built host that doesn't look like crap and contains a good heatsink
-Under $400 (I'd be willing to go over, but only if the laser is REALLY worth it)
-Externally focusable lense (Sorry, here's where my noobness really comes in. From what I can tell, this is really handy. If it doesn't really matter and I'm just an idiot, please tell me)

So basically, I just want a nice looking, good quality laser that's capable of burning stuff without dying right away. Now I've seen your warnings to other noobs, so don't even bother. I'm well aware of the safety hazards of a 1W laser, and I don't intend to use it as a toy, and definitely never without eye protection. I've been looking at some of the more well known sites like Rayfoss and Dragon Lasers, but I wasn't sure how they compared to other lasers out there that I don't know about (and no, I really don't want to wait for months on end for an Arctic, which I've been hearing mixed reviews about anyway). Anyway, your help would really be appreciated.

Hi,

Based on your demands, I think that the DL 1W 447nm Spartan is right for you. Save that it isn't focusable, it meets all of your requests.

I have this laser and it's a great laser. Look up for reviews here. There are plenty of.

Batteries and charger can be found here.

Welcome to a fascinating and expensive hobby!
