So. Was bidding on this ILDA laser projector RGB with among others 40mW 473nm DPSS module (always wanted to see a 473nm in real life!). It was going really well. Had signed in, verified everything. Done a test shot. Waiting for the countdown.

40s left and the bid was an amazing 241 EUR. So I went all in. Putting up a max bid at 400 EUR. Of course, ebay flipped on me. Redirected me to an additional sign in page (note that I had of course signed in earlier and ticked the "Keep me signed in all day" checkbox). Then forgetting my bid.

I must have missed the auction deadline with 3 seconds maximum. :( It ended at an amazing 270 EUR + 30 EUR shipping.

Sulked for a bit over this.

But then I received a note that a packet had arrived. An expected 300mW greenie portable. So got my excitement up again.

After loads of tinkering and testing it now seems it is dead on arrival. Power LED indicates power, but no output, neither 808nm, 1064nm nor 532nm.

This was of course a pre-used item. So I cannot get a new working from the manufacturer.

This is two great deals missed in one day.

I'm gonna go get a few beers now.

wow. I've had similar days with lasers... Like the day I was waiting for my 612nm HeNe to come off of ebay (the first try) - and i plugged it in --- dead.

Didn't think I'd ever get that chance again.... Did, (at a price) but man... I didn't deal with ebay sellers for a while after that one.

Typical. :( You can find all types of seller on the bay!

This one was in particular reputable (company sales). But then ebay fracked (Anyone watched Caprica? They always use the word frack in that show!) it up instead. *sighs*

Condolencies freinds. A day you'll want to forget in a hurry.

I use AuctionSniper.com

It pay an extra $0.25, but I set it at my max and go to the beach.

It bids for me when there is 5 seconds left

Seems like things are turning.

I caught the next auction at 303 EUR. Not too bad for an ILDA RGB (40mW 473nm as blue) laser :) incl shipping; 330 EUR. Equals $460 US.

And found the o-Like 400mW "torch" for $196 here.

Now I will have to live on bread and water until next payment. ;)
