that would finally be an useful use of burning lasers :)

edit: this is a joke. DON'T TRY THIS !
you will blind your family and neighbors !
i advice you to dismantle your 445m. it is too dangerous, this is like having a handgun ready to shoot

if it's close to the grass, upwards you can hit a passerby, an airplane. indoors the reflection can bounce and hit you or somebody else. i thought about lasing ants, roaches, mice but i did'nt have my goggles ready, and when i did, i really couldn't see the beam that well.

During the summer months I tend to eat plenty of fruit, but with fruit comes fruit flies.

I was playing around with my 445 hand-held the other day, and one of these pesty fruit flies just so happened to land on a nearby wall.

With goggles on, I scanned along the wall, and when I hit the fly, it instantly fell off the wall. It didn't seem to be much alive but was still moving some. I guess heating a body temperature that rapidly considering its size is just not good.

I also noted that the wing on one side was missing! The amount of exposure was less than 1 second, and seem to inflict lethal damage. My guess would be that a mosquito would suffer a similar fate.

Though it may be best to let them land first ;)

there is right now a spider on my wall. sad that i don't have a 1W 445nm !

it doesnt take alot of damage to kill them. they dont have lungs or anything, oxygen intake can occur along their surface area very efficiently because of their large surface area to volume ratio. i've heard in mosquitos this happens on their wings, so get a wing and they're probably dead. i think they need to keep flapping their wings for the most part too to keep air flow going.

Uhh i need a Spyder too. still buzzing them with an ol' Zap Lamp. ok, tuned with an oversized hv cap, for a bit more special effects ;)

Done!!! It is in pieces and in the trash!! Whew, I feel better. Don't know why I didn't do that earlier...:crackup::crackup::crackup:

When I first got my 200mw red o-like I was having an ant problem, so I focused it on one.. thing made crisply poppy noises and produced a cloud of smoke.. and obviously died. hard part is making em stand still.

With 1w bugs would be no match =p

My handheld Tesla coil is great for it. Love the effect on wasps. Just dont ever play with one sopping wet barefoot. Not my brightest moment.

I've hit a spider and a bee with mine. Both were done at fairly close range. The spider immediately hunched down, his legs curled up, then he then sizzled and poped. The bee was coming out of a hole in a dumpster we have out back my work. It burned one of his wings and he fell to the ground running in circles. I stepped on him not to be cruel.

i've taken down bugs from about 23 ft way granted i wasn't trying (those bugs that fly around lights love it) buz buz buz POP
