I found a Draper Linear C6 635nM class II laser pointer. Max output is 0.95 mW. Can I make some type of modifications to it so it will be able to burn things. I always have a flashlight in my camper and plenty of batteries so i figured if i could make this a burning laser, it would be a fun way to start camp fires. Any help is greatly appreciated.
 





The best thing for you to do is just buy a powerful laser unless you have laser building experience but judging on what you just asked you don't. Also if you wan't to burn you are going to need a lot more power than .95mw. That is the power of a convience store red.
 
I figured as much, i guess i'll start tearing into an old DVD burner. I think it would be fun to build one, thanks for the response
 
Ya. No problem. By the way welcome to the forum. If you are looking for something I suggest using the search bar but don't use the one towards the left. People on here will always say use the search bar but I could never get it to work. So use this. Up at the top there are different things to click on. Click the search up there and type in what you need. If you can't find what you're looking for just make a thread. Good luck on building your laser!

If it is a Draper in the "large" (1.5in. dia) tube, I might be interested in it for my collection. Send me a picture via PM. I have lots of components to build a laser with, to trade.

That's the He-Ne one, right Dave? I've bid on 2-3 on e-bay lately but lost them or missed the auction.

It could not even burn your retinas. (still, don't look into the beam of any laser)
BTW: Robetard, Dave sells, or trades, only top notch components, tested ,tried and true. A+:wave:

They made both HeNe and diode types. Here's a review of one of the diode types
