I know there are a bunch of threads about this already...but how about some recent activity?

Anyone having trouble lately?

I know I shouldn't have read about all the people getting their lasers taken. It has made me extremely paranoid :cryyy:

I have 2 lasers coming through the DX Shipping Service, and I'm nervous now lol. It has only been 5 days. I have no idea how long Canadian customs takes. The only thing that is bothering me is that they only shipped from 4 hours away from me lol. So I know its not the actual "sending" that is taking 5 days...

Wait, do you live in Canada (i'm assumming that as you said "Canadian" customs)or the USA? I don't think Canada has any laws about lasers

I live in Canada, and they have no law on lasers whatsoever...

Never got anything taken...

Oh and you could wait up to a month to get your stuff from DX...

It sounds like you live in the US, so you are having the lasers sent to Canada, and repackaged for reshipment to you in the US, am I right here? It takes a while for DX shipping to get to Canada. When your contact repacks them and sends them to the US, you will be subjected to the often slow speed of Canada Post. Odds are good that you will get your lasers, but it will take time. Perhaps you went through the member on the forum here who provides this service? Another alternative is o-like, who seem to ship directly to the US with little trouble.

edit : Canada does have laser laws, and these can kick in at the 1mW level!!! We haven't had enough issues of lasers being shot at planes or police officers for the federal government to become concerned and start a serious enforcement campaign. One incident in a major city that makes the TV news could change this very quickly ... There was a little fuss over red pointers back in the 90's but this faded away.

I live in US, I got a 200mW from olike about a month ago, no problems. And as the above post stated, DX isn't the fastest on processing and shipping orders out. I have placed a few orders with them not long ago and they took on average 30 days from the day I placed the order until it arrived at my house. They have great prices, but slooooow shipping!

I should have mentioned that it has already arrived in Canada, and was shipped to me (in the US) on the 20th.

He only lives 4 hours away from me, so I know my laser is sitting in customs, and not actually shipping (unless they screwed up lol).

That sucks lol. You think they could be a bit faster. At least they didn't open it and destroy it (like I have heard before).
