Exactly, "preferably flash".

I know what it said. Its just kind of silly making a GIF when they "prefer" Flash. Flash is a much higher resolution as we all know. So why waste time with a GIF when most people are sending Flash files?

I'm not crying. I just wish these contests were clearer in the rules.

CNI Laser, an LPF sponsor, wishes to announce a contest for a Yellow Laser Pointer. CNI is looking to upgrade their banner advertisement currently displayed on LPF. They are seeking a new, "hi-tech" 720x90 graphic design, preferably in flash format. LPF members are invited to submit their artwork along with the source code. This should be emailed to cnilasers (ATTTT) gmail.com

It did say "preferably" in flash. So it didn't have to be.

Because I'd rather have a user load one gif and put it into his cache than having his processor work all the time rendering vectorized graphics. Also, even if 99% of the world has Flash, lots of people never bother getting the plugin and could not see the banner, same if they find them too annoying, they will block them.

Plug-in? If you have ever watched YouTube or any other Flv video you already have the plug-in. I'd pick Flash over a GIF any day for an advertising. I just don't have great skillz with Flash. Thats why I didnt enter. I'm very supprised they picked a crappy GIF over a Flash animation. Advertising has to do with a "WOW" factor, not processor speed LOL. And you can block any ad, no mater what the format is. Sorry I cant agree with your rationalism. Your banner would look amazing if it was a Flash animation. Which is why they "Prefer" a Flash animation I suspect.

There's much more to advertising than you know of. Not just "WOW"

I know Niko, I'm far from a n00b with advertising. With web banners you need a WOW to stick out over the other thousands of banners. The bait is always first. The content comes second, then networking, ect.

The question was to myself. I was trying to explain my thought process and nothing more. Sorry for the confusion.
