The bell\reservoir cracked when attaching a new seal-off stem. The bore is intact so I may try again but for now.... :-(
actually, would it be possible for you to take your OC out and look at the part number? im curious if you have a broadband one. mines a lame 632.8 one but ive heard the standard is 612-640nm. the tuning prism however is coated for everything possible so it doesn't care. thats why i can tune to orange with an external OC.

I’m just glad it was savable. Nice job! Just a clarification for lpf, this isn’t the largest helium neon in the world but it is definitely one of the biggest commercially sold ones! Nice pics too!

Are those alternating connected bands that run down the length of the tube for starting the discharge? I've never seen a tube big enough to need something like that.

That is a good question, Now I'm curious also. I know my SP-127 does not have those, though that is much shorter and only has one discharge. My guess would be for starting the discharge or for supporting the bore? It does look like the connecting wires are electrically connected to the electrical something squares in the center, so looks like igniting pulse.

Looks like they use alternating polarity. I would assume they use this external method for the ignition pulse instead of internal like most others because of the very high voltage needed for such a length.
