👋 Hey, I am Clint and made a profile a month ago. Since I have been coming here atleast once a day lately, I figured, "Why not state my my business." I am from Alabama, 33 years old and work for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, a joint operation. Currently I am training at a Toyota plant in Mississippi. I have been in management for the last 10 years. I have been interested in lasers since I was probably 10. My first laser was from a gas station- a red laser that used watch batteries. I loved it but it did not last long. Next I bought a laser from a gas station, also red, that came with 50 tips that each made a different pattern- stars, circles, birds, cats, shooting stars, ect. I had a fascination with it. When I was 13 ebay was getting big, and I started buying alot of lasers there. Around that time I discovered I could make my own laser, and I researched and got everything together, except the diode. I bought it online after begging my dad for his card, and I waited and waited but it never came in and there ended my laser building hobby...Until a couple months ago. I was building a flashlight when I thought about building a laser. So I did some research and contacted Jayrob. He built me a host, got a diode from DTR, and now for the last month I have been enjoying my beautiful blue laser. Sadly one is not enough for me and I want to build more. So I've been here during breaks at work and while my wife is not at home researching my next diode purchase. Anyway, just wanted to post for those that see me pop up in their conversation thread.

😟 idk what to reply. I did message lifetime 3 times asking questions about what he had to sell, but they were genuine questions and I had no other intention than to inquire about his host and heat sinks, and still plan on purchasing two host. I asked about a heat sink for a maglite, a question specifically about a host and diode, and a question about what host(s) he had available for a 12mm diode and battery sizes, and the answer to the latter was confusing so I asked for clarification.

The lasers I bought from gas stations were infact two different lasers. One was just a laser and batteries and the other was a kit with a red laser and 50 beam tips.

I do not troll and I do not mean to be odd. I do not want to offend or bug anyone and I do not want anyone to think I am anything more than genuine.

For clarification, my name is Clint Brooks, not Eastwood.

Thanks for the clarification.

It is very important that you become a safety geek like all of us--lol
You got some great advice.
here is a small suggestion from me.
Your post what we call a 'brick' not the biggest by any means but a brick all the same.

Here is how I would have posted it..

I'm confused... You thought he was a possible troll for asking you about your wares? He probably took everyones advice and searched lpf for something and when he came across your sale thread he then proceeded to contact you about it. I'm seeing this mindset on many members here lately and it has me concerned.

Look not everyone wants to be buddy buddies. Not everyone is looking to form friendships. Some just want to do research on a hobby. Some want to remain anonymous and not disclose information they feel uncomfortable giving out. Leave people alone. Let people post what they want to post and stop hounding them. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy decides to never come back because of this crap.

Think of it like trying to get a date... If you come on too strong as you do you can bet the woman will quickly turn you down and walk away if not slap you in the face entirely.

Yup seems like a miss communication on the OP and Rich's PMs.;)
When the red lasers first came out they were mostly just a dot pointer and then the big kits with different caps. I also found them at gas stations and then liquor stores/gas stations/wholesale cigg stores.
I happened to find them mostly at NH stores for some reason where I was 9 miles from the border and I would go there as there was no taxes.
I will say this, the early red dot 3 button top cells pointer where solid and made of brass, even all of the tips where solid brass. The 50 or 60 tip kits where $25 to $30 though but well worth it. Iv'e looked just for curiousity for these old ones but all I can find is the cheap plastic cap ones.
Lets get this OP's thread back to normal:)
Welcome Eastwood!

When I read this initially I read it in Marty Mcfly ( Michael J Fox ) voice when he said it to Mad Dog Tannen.
