Nice words of encouragement there ….. ^^

Encouragement? Encourage what exactly? To pretend life is a video game w. death rays ?
Daydreams of death rays? What's next, build an electric grid to kill "The Thing". Episode 66 of "Jackass" the series?
It all seems very juvenile for a High School student studying engineering, which he says he is.
A more mature and responsible serious and informed/educated less reckless less risky approach would go a long way--might be something to encourage.
Have a look at what others have responded.

As others have said: -----
I keep wondering what people sometimes call „not a big problem“. And how they somehow manage to stay alive and out of jail until retirement. If you want be one of these, you should evaluate your doing.

What‘s your next project? Home made nuclear power plant? „Ups, I found out that my cans of Uranium pellets get a little hot when I stowe them away in my locker. Had to put them on the balcony to cool down, but that‘s not a big problem.“

I guess the restrictive „anti Laser“ laws are made because of people like you.

RE building a nuclear reactor
That’s a nice idea for a next project, I will think about it. If it succeeds I’ll of course will have to post it on another kind of forum.

Edit: I did some research and if I am going to try it, I will probablyuse Thorium instead of Uranium. Not only it is more safe but it’s also much easier to get then Uranium.

To me a problem such as lasing when the device is switched off/not triggered is a STOP AND FIX IT NOW kind of problem.
I don't have any issues with the kid building a laser, but operating it without fixing the above mentioned problem shows a lack of caution that's very concerning, it's like driving your car without any brakes, why not be patient and fix the problem before driving any further and risking an accident ?

Yes, go ahead. Kill yourself as you like. But try to not harm others.

Really, when I watched your video how you shoot at the target in front of your window, I was glad not to live in your neighborhood. I don't want to imagine how often this beam went out of the window, probably hitting the house in the background. You don't even seem to have a clue that your "toy" is emmitting dangerous radiation, when it is suposed to be off. And other than the fictive Star-Wars Lightsaber, the beam does not stop within a meter, but goes on thousands of miles in a tiny fraction of a second. There is no "safe distance" for a 40W Laser. There is a good reason why these are mounted in a shielded environment.

If I eventually meet you in person, I certainly won't hand you anything as powerful as a box of matches because smart as you may be, you don't seem grown up enough to take the responsibility that goes with handing powerful things.

You know, there are more constructive ways to give feedback. Instead of putting him down for it, you should praise his curiosity and drive to put these things together at such a young age, and provide instead safety tips with a bit of respect. Cheers!

Its not that you're wrong... is that your criticism and that of some others is more to put him down than to help him. Why not offer more constructive advise and not discourage a young mind from tinkering? Lets not pretend there is anything "mature" and "responsible" about anyone building/owning useless high-power lasers unless it's for scientific or engineering purposes.

I understand what you mean and you are free to do what you suggest, however, what you suggest sounds like a job for it's parents.
The OP should study this web site--at least it is educational and a clue for the clueless: http://panoptesv.com/SciFi/LaserDeathRay/DeathRay.html

When you see child level idiocy being perpetrated it is being helpful to point that out in no uncertain terms.
Especially in this case as it is concerning a 40W invisible laser as a play toy "Death Ray" fantasy/daydream and very dangerous.
LPF is not a Babysitting Forum .

I'm aware of the replies ,

I Fully agree that care needs to be taken when doing stuff like this and that the OP needs to be considerably more safety concerned but simply putting the whole idea down is beyond me .

Hi,

Thank you for all the comments. As it turns out the laser firing while not being triggered solved itself; it just stopped doing that at one point🤗

Maybe 3d print a housing or frame for it, could be modular and safer to handle. Nice job taking the time to learn about this stuff, off to a good start I think.

Or printed in 3d yes, but then forged in aluminum or copper for example! (with the lost casting technique)

Don't take this the wrong way, but you have been here two weeks and already have 67 posts, many just congratulatory or inane. This really isn't a social media site where people care about your fantasies. I'm only telling you this so you won't get backlash from other members here. Good luck.

And then? what should I do ? go away from here?
Maybe it's a nice way to tell me "go away from here"?

No, I wouldn't say that. It would be good if you asked laser related questions or made substantive comments about them. Anything that would actually move knowledge around. But, I am not the forum police, so it was only meant as a helping guide.

A guide ? instead of worrying about me and driving me! think of your daughter (we understand you have one)
Instead of spending whole days here ......
I have had in-depth information on many of you .....
I'm not used to dealing with strangers!

I can tell things that nobody knows here!

Yes, I have a daughter. She is in her thirties and lives in the next town over. I do contact or get contacted by phone with her daily, but she is far beyond the age to need me looking over her shoulder. We enjoy a mutual love for each other like a father and daughter should.
