Please keep answered simple and on topic guys, I’m still new
I have been looking at this 5.6mm laser housing:
I’m wondering if it works with red and green diodes even though it’s rated for blue lasers?

It's the AR coating on the lens that is rated for Blue. The Axis module will work with any 5.6mm diode. You may need a new lens for Red and Green diodes.

Those modules seem highly overpriced. You can buy the exact same module on eBay from China for $2 USD with free shipping. They are a bit more with glass lenses, but still cheaper than this guy.

AND ---these are 'AixiZ' 'modules' not AXIZ.. however many places make these not just AixiZ ( based USA) & they get them from one of the bigger makers in China.
AixiZ can sell you any module with best lens for laser. and more.

Hi
Those will work fine they are chrome plated brass modules.
For better heat sinking DTR has all copper modules I 3.8 / 5.6 / and 9mm they come with spring and acrylic lens or you have the option to buy additional lenses to match the diode to the AR coating as well
You can opt for a copper back half in a fun version or a short version

................good post.

Two 'things' require good attention-
1) use of 'plastic' lens in higher powers-- only glass lenses are 'melt-proof' this issue must be paid good attention to...... aside from glass lenses take care that a back reflection cannot harm diodes.. ESPECIALLY if the AR coating is wrong or not a good one. Shorter duty and/or longer rest helps with this.
2)Pressing diodes can be an issue until you get 'good' at it.
the right 'tool' is a must-the 'can' needs to be completely -pressed BUT not damaged or pressed crooked.
For some the best way may be to buy them prepressed with leads and or driver already soldered (DTR).
ALSO ESD problems 'end' once driver is soldered to diode..... until then ALWAYS take ESD precautions VERY seriously... this is one reason that bare diodes are warranted as ESD is totally the buyers responsibility..
Of course bigger heatsinks and 'pure' copper are smart as well as conservative duty/rest cycling.
