Hey! I'm from Southern California (as my profile and the title suggests). I own a Sanwu 304 green and Sanwu 304 violet laser pointer. I'm looking to expand my collection more by color than power, and am looking for a cheap red laser.

To bad you missed it as they sell the 3 color combo for a discount..
Not to bad though as it's relatively cheap anyways..:)

Welcome to the LPF. I bought a 650nm pointer a few months ago for $10 from shadowlasers on eBay. It measured 157 mW. I got one years ago that measured 210 mW, but can't give you a link to that one. You can pick these up less expensively by using eBay instead of one of the resellers of these cheap pointers.

Welcome to LPF, alpacalicker! :)
Remember to have proper eye protection for your particular wavelength lasers.

Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum alpacalicker, hope you enjoy your time here. If the laser bug really gets ahold of you make sure to get accessories to go with your handhelds 😁 (After the proper eyewear first of course) Just got myself a cheapie tripod today and boy are they handy!

Thanks! Definitely will consider this laser. Is shadowlasers a reputable seller?

I purchased two pointers from them and received a working laser each time. I am quite satisfied with them and, if I needed to buy another, would not hesitate to buy from them again.

welcome

great 'intro' --you may want to put some kind of location into your profile..... that way when a member clicks your username it will show your location..
MYB an invite to attend a laser meet near you will happen-- IIRC there was a SCALLEM a few years back.. LEMs are awesome gatherings and getting to meet and put a face on a username is refreshing. cant beat hands-on help or getting your collection metered anytime you want.

- Lasers have some magical power that draws us to the beam but also to others who never ask why??

search 'SELEM Laser Show' Vids from a bunch of years.. this is year #13-- and it has grown to 5 days... at the show forum there is a section for LEMs and most USA LEMs are organized there...

I don't think you really want a 'cheap' laser... if so- buy a few sets of penpointers RG&V and keep your $$.
seen them as cheap as $1 per laser-free $hip --but REALLY CHEAP..

good luck

FEEL FREE to add a bit more in this thread about yourself.
What goals involving lasers are you thinking about..
Making lasers related sciences for a career or a re-invention of yourself at any age has become easy-- lots of places hiring.

In the newest PS BUYERS GUIDE.. where listed 'by state' Ca. is 5 and 1/3rd pages of brief info by the City.
At least 600 companies in Ca. involved in some way with lasers.
~60 companies in San Jose alone.

It is wide open.. New laser apps and companies are growing in numbers.
If any want the list for your city just PM me.

the guide is available in print, online at PhotonicsBuyersGuide.com & on mobile devices.. same with the monthly mag-- its free.
there is also a guide that lists companies by what they make- so cross reference.
