My god that website is a cancerous pile of propagandist nonsense...

I don't care about anyone's political opinions about guns (I'm just glad I live in a country where they're not common...) - but NO website should advocate the use of a laser for self defence. That's totally criminal in my view.

Forgetting the fact that it's a bog-standard 303, avaliable for about $5 on ebay and they're trying to peddle it for $30 while telling people it's worth 2 grand.

What a f**king joke.

Edit: Would the statements on that website cause them legal troubles? Is inciting violence a crime in the US? It openly and actively encourages people to blind other people with lasers...

Edit 2: Given it seems to be marketing to the extreme-right wing, I would love to see their customer's response to the lasers being manufactured in China... :p

I know.... I couldnt believe when I clicked the link what they were advocating. I've seen sites try to charge outrageous prices and lie about power output but to openly advocate shinning a laser beam directly in somebody's eyes is just downright dangerous and irresponsible. Its these kinds of people that are going to lead to legislation to ban lasers for the general public. Somebody should report these people to somebody there has to be some kind of governing branch in the county that the company is registered in that can and will shut them down. And trying to say the laser is worth 2 thousand dollars is laughable.

Great Thread--HOWEVER a few BIG errors that need to be edited.. (& corrected.)

At least twice I read that JL takes 2 to 3 weeks--that HAS to be a typo-
It is 3 to 4 DAYS. By DHL Express and has been that way forever.

JETLASERS charges the most $$ of all for shipping--IIRC ~$38usd. w/ no exceptions.
DHL is chosen BUT NOT for the 'uber' fast delivery.. FAR more important is getting your laser safely delivered and unopened by ANYONE.
If cheaper shipping was as good and safe as DHL Express they would be used.. but no other shipper comes close.
AND...
JL has me to help the forum ..
I have been 'host' of 10 group buys of 10 or more lasers each.. I inspected and tested and re-shipped every one myself.
I have a few parts with me in Houston. LIke tailcaps.
One BE left out of 10 Pcs I once had-its on sale at $90--but its not a black !0X BE more of a 'silver' color.

PM me anytime for help w/ JL products

WHEN making a post and the last one there is yours... do not post again.
Instead use 'edit' and add to your earlier post.. You have even make triple posts!! NO DO!\ no do

PLEASE go back and use 'edit' and fix your posts.
This had been an unwritten 'rule' here for >10 years.
A line HAD to be drawn and that line is drawn at ONE post.
There are a few exceptions but your posts do not meet that need.
Copy then paste then delete.
IF you do not do this a MOD will come and combine them & you don't really want that.

If you pay attention you will see that double posting does not happen often.

thanks Hak

Thank you very much hakzaw1 for clarifying some of the forum rules for me. I am new to forums in general and I have been spending some time trying to navigate some of the threads about proper forum etiquette. If there is anything you ever see me doing wrong or anything you think I should know please feel free to PM me or correct me on one of my post. Thank you very much - Ryan

Edit: Also you said Jet Lasers charges most for shipping at 38 dollars? I just paid 50 dollars
To ship with DHL / Fedex world for my first 3 watt 445 striker saber from Sanwu.

That is a lot to ship a laser. You should get that within three days of it shipping. I have paid for DHL Express shipping for laser diodes many times. Once I actually got them in less than 24 hours from China.

Yeah it's been 4 days already and I just got the email today that its been shipped and DHL said it will be here Thursday. I'm worried about customs though as I purchased a complete assembly. I bought the 3 watt 445nm striker saber from Sanwu. Have you had any experience buying complete lasers from china? I havent checked your profile yet but I live in the United states and am looking for some feedback from people that also live here and have ordered from china.

Edit: I just checked out your profile and seen you live in Washington state. I have family in Tacoma and have been out there a few times its a beautiful place. I was looking at your signature, is that a list of all the lasers you own?

I have never had a problem getting a laser shipped from China to me. I wouldn't worry about it. I do live in Tacoma. The lasers in my signature represent about half of all of my lasers.

Sorry, I don't. The Tacoma area is pretty large. I've been here since 2002. I used to live in Vancouver, WA back in the early 1980s. So, I have been in Washington for 21 years of my life, off and on.

Can probably add laserpointerstore.com to trusted list. I have purchased a few smaller lasers from them and they seem trustable. They are a bit chinese-y but they dont lie.

No they definitely lie. Every laser I have ordered has been way under spec. They are selling 80 mW 303s they are claiming are over 200mW but when tested they are usually below 80

They're "trusted" in the sense that they aren't a scam - but if you ask around you'll get mixed comments from different members. The lasers they sell are slightly marked up common cheap chinese made units, and their Laser Power Meters are uncalibrated and effectively useless. They're not going to run off with your money and not ship you anything though.

Yeah but neither will any website that has the little green "trusted" lock symbol in the address bar. If your entering your credit card information to make a purchase on a website that dont have that certification than you probably deserve to have not only your money for the purchase stolen but probably your entire bank account cleaned out.

Edit: and by "you" I dont mean you or anyone specific i just mean anyone in general that would do something as thoughtless as making a purchase from a shady seller

I've ordered a few lasers from them, a 301 and a 303 both with batteries. At the low price I didn't expect much, but the products work OK and I'm happy with them. I'm sure they lie about the power output, but the lasers I got do burn as advertised.

Oh I definitely agree - a website that's not using proper HTTPS/SSL with valid certificates should never be given payment info.

But it's also pretty straightforward to set up, so even the laziest of scam artists could. Heck my awful personal site has a valid certificate and I know next to nothing about web security - but I can follow tutorials and instructions.

Yeah but if you have valid certificates it's fairly easy for someone to put in a dispute and get their money back
