Hi

Im looking for a good quality green laser pointer that is a true 5mW , with the output being roughly consistent. Ideally it should be ~5mW but anything between ~5mW and ~10mW should do. Thing is, I cant seem to find any that is not shipped from some far flung country. Bear in mind Im in England, and ideally, i do not want to wait for like 15 days for shipping. So if anyone knows of any good lasers with an output of 5mW in Enlgand, it would be much appreciated if you could point me to it (pun not intended(it might be...))

Thanks in advance

defy

EDIT: Thanks guys A LOT. Its really nice to see all of your replies - especially to a newcomer to the forum. i think ill settle for the Roithner lasers, and as for eBay, i might just get some cheap pack of 3 lasers for about £5. And once again, thank you all for your input :)
Sorry for quoting all of you like this, but i have/had no idea if can/could simply 'tag' people by username (like reddit or instagram you would write u/someone or @Someone)

Optotronic's:)

Edit: sorry forgot to add he's in the US but does ship fast..

Not sure if you can get a complete pointer, or just the components, but you could take a look at Odic Force.

Another source would be Z-Bolt, but again, they're in the U.S.

Unfortunately Odic Force in UK longer offers pens of any kind.

Have a look at this Austrian company- ROITHNER LASERTECHNIK GmbH . Would be quick shipping to UK.

They have several types of laser pens available. http://www.roithner-laser.com/laser_pointers.html

It's a shame that Maplin has ceased trading for the meantime, as they used to be on the high street. You used to be able to get a 1mW pointer from them and then modify it. They had electronic filters inside that if you snipped the wires to it the laser would become unregulated but still be <10mW. I would try Roithner that Encap recommended as there isn't many options available that are regulated and available quickly.

Maplin 1mW 532nm laser for sale.

https://www.cashconverters.co.uk/shop/product/maplin-green-laser-pointer/166476

Is there a tutorial for upgrading the Maplin 1mW, also would make a nice host for a compatible laser module.

Please try not to double-post as much - you can reply to multiple comments in the same reply...

There's really not much in the way of UK sellers of pointers - the law restricts the sale of pointers over 1mw (so no class 2/3/4) in shops, and most online stores match this. Fortunately there's fewer rules regarding importing them, though it is possible for purchases to be seized by customs. Most suppliers that this forum uses are either in the US (Survival Lasers, DTR, both for parts for laser builds) or in China. JetLasers and Sanwu are both regarded as very good quality although at a much higher price.

Since you live in a place that restricts the output of laser pointer output power, I'd go looking for your lasers in a store where you live. I picked up a <5 mW 650nm laser pointer ten years ago for $2.00. You can likely find some in red or green that are 3 Euros or less.

I have a 4.99mW green professional pointer--they cost $140--still want?

BTW one post at a time.. if you are adding more do not double post (you really should use edit/copy /dele then add the two int one post.

ALSO we really like it when a new member takes the time to go to our WELCOME section'' did you see "newcomers''? that is what you are..lol

Your (general) location really needs to be placed into your profile , as then it appears when we click you...my apology if you have already added that.
What you may not know--by FDA rules some class of lasers need to be 5mW or less....SO they use that 5mW for the label.. the power on those labels does NOT come from a reading of the mW ..
the (now) extremely low priced pen-pointers (R,G&V) are as cheap as 1$usd each w/ free$hip!! (try ebay seller 'blab3191') (or 19)
BUT none will be anywhere near 5mW-- they EACH will meter between 30 or 40 mW to as high as 80 or 90 mW.. The green pointers are especially expensive to make at just 5mW.-easy to find reds at 5mW.
I also recommend Odic Force (UK)
AND even just 5mW can cause eye damage (getting 'blinded' with any power laser is VERY VERY rare..) & >50 people die each year at USA amusement parks..about the only way to get killed by a laser is to have a projector fall on your head.
And of course never point any laser at any living thing...no exceptions//

Laserglow anser. But ships from Canada. What's the rush?
thing is, there'll also be high shipping/customs charges that u hav 2 pay once prouct gets into uk, so whats the point of paying almost gbp20 for a laser thats less than that? besides im really wanting it - cant wait lol-
