Sharp 638nm 185mw pen laser build

Sharp red is nice diode. It was bright and sharp the beam.
I think it is as good as the 532nm green laser:yh:

output = with G-2 250mw maybe...
Battery = AAA 2 use

05:30 clock...



I would like red laser with 1W or more to have sharp divergence.
however 185mw diode is darker than ML501P73.
multi mode red laser dot is so crazyyyy....
but I think it is the best among single-mode red lasers:crackup:
It was good to use two AAA batteries

You can build a pen laser with 1 watt+ of output but the duty cycle of such a build will be very low.

Very nice looking beam shots. I like the single mode 638nm diodes. Not an especially big fan of pen builds, but this one seems to look pretty nice and the beam seems quite tight. :yh:

Sharp single mode 638nm is good!. i think it is better than HL63603TG.
Sharp 30% higher output than HL63603TG:drool:
but it is not 3 Pin diode :crackup:

it just Chinese driver. i want use Flex driver next time
The Chinese driver was not bad either.

Because the Vf of this red diode is so low. it is reasonable to use a cheap Chinese driver for it. You could even get by with using one meant for 808nm pump diodes for 532nm lasers. That wouldn't work for the
new Sharp single mode diodes. The ones from 470nm to 510nm.

I’ve got this one, too. Def one of my favorites. I love red the most. Most of us on the forums have been dreaming of a MM red with ~ m140 type divergence or better. :drool:
