Wow that sucks, hurts to read that article. :(

I remember when I was in early years of high school there were some morons that would deliberately stare into their laser pointers as a challenge to see who could do it for longer. Fortunately, back then all that was readily available were those cheap 1mW key chain pointers, still incredibly stupid what they did, but at least the chance of damage was much lower than it could be with some of today's lasers.

Why hasn't this video been taken down ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxjMWQn2ZK0&t=267s

I have reported it, the jackass rolls his eyes back the 1st time and moves the laser between his nose and eye, not actually hitting his eye except light overspray, the 2nd time he shines it up into the tops of his eye sockets but again not into his eyes ( beam into pupils ) but this could inspire someone like that poor stupid kid who likely blinded both his eyes in the video they did take down, this gives the impression that it's survivable so of course someone is going to take it a step further.

This video is more dangerous because it makes it seem ok, this jerk is going to get some stupid kid to do what that other one did, please report this video.

Yeah, I saw this some time ago when it first appeared. The hyperbole this guy uses to describe his laser is way over the top. The first time I saw it I was skeptical it wasn't just an LED in place of the laser diode. It is obviously not a collimated beam as it wouldn't cover so much of his face at such a short distance. He is just another YT videographer trying to get noticed for doing stupid looking things. It has been up for awhile now.

I bet it's on low and his lens is dirty, but I can see the spot, I seriously doubt he installed a LED, he's just a YT whore doing something dangerous that threatens our hobby.

Here you can see the spot hitting just above his eye. In the removed video the poor stupid kid directed the beam right into his pupils and held it there, it looked like a typical 532 of possibly 15-50mw, he held it straight into both his eyes, this is the one step further that this kind of careless YT video can inspire.

Please report the video, I have months ago yet it remains.

Yes, it was obviously a con. I thought so the first time I saw it. I refuse to sign into YT, so I can't report him. I can't even leave a remark about it. But, there are many others here that do subscribe to YT and can do as you ask.

Lucky it was not a 7+ Watt laser.

There would not have been any eye left to examine. So dam dangerous. I rarely turn my Nubm44 on.

I sold a 1.6W 445nm laser (back when that was still a respectable power level) because it was too much! All I wanted was a cute blue beam to take photos of and instead I got an unwieldy blue pillar of destruction that burned several holes in my curtains, furniture and carpet, murdered the neighbours dog and had an affair with my wife. Ok that last bit isn’t quite true but I sold it to someone on here (with many warnings and recommendations of eye protection) and said good riddance to it. I was then able to sell the James Bond grade goggles I’d bought for it too and was finally able to sleep at night knowing my curtains were now safe.

Most powerful I own now is 100W and even that’s an eye-buster on a white wall. I think once the “ooh I can blow shit up with this!” Phase wears off one returns to sensibility, but unfortunately being humans we have to go through that phase first to experience it...

We did some really stupid things in high school too, kind of glad that there were no laser pointers to add to the dumb things we could get in trouble with! :eg:

YouTube is useless in removing dangerous
acts videos... I also reported it a while ago
and it's still there for kids and the clueless
to try out.

Thanks for trying, Jerry! I’m unable to formally complain to YT as I refuse to join any type of vampire based “Social Media”. Ironically, I delivered a warning about future abuses on and by SM at a national convention 20 years ago. Sometimes it hurts to be proven correct! :( Please Take Care.
