Poisoning by radiiactive material doesnt really have a specific look.

Exposure to extrenal radiation will cause skin redness comparable to a severe sunburn, wiht the difference that you are quite likely to die. Erythrema is a common effect to exposure to huge doses, but it doesnt cause spots normally.

Also it's not what kills you in the short term - a similar thing happens in your gut that disrupts you from taking any nutrients from food or even water, not a good way to go at all!

Wow that's crazy, if baffles me how david Hahn someone who has read as much literature on the subject in this modern age about radioactive sources, how to procure them, and then apply them for applications could be totally oblivious to their hazards.
When asked "aren't these dangerous?" by the reporter his reply was somewhat dismissive as if the answer was yes and he didn't care.

You know what annoys me the most!:X for the for purpose of None Destructive Testing the country of Panama refuses to allow any radioactive source in it country for RT. Ultrasonic Testing only. Which In my opinion is even more susceptible to biased interpretation.

I had no idea they built a monument for it... Radiation at 10 times normal background is nothing to worry about though, there are plenty of places on earth where radiation is 10 times the average background just from natural sources and people live their entire lives there.

What's the no photo's allowed thing though? Is that purely for the white sands facilities?

Hi, Mac. Long time no see. Great photos. I knew they had something out there to mark the place. That was 72 years ago. I wouldn't want to be one of the people made to be out there right after the detonation.

What would be the advantage of a laser initiated neutron bomb though? Would it be something consider using tactically rather than as a deterrent?

I mean neutron bombs are just fission bombs and never reach the yield levels of hydrogen bombs which can be scaled to any size you desire.

The idea behind the neutron bomb as such is that it's not a very destructive weapon but kills people, leaving infrastructure and such relatively intact. This is -very relative- though as the neutron blast will activate many materials making them pretty radioactive, not something like you drop that bomb and you walk in the area the day after.

The only reason i can see for china to develop them is if they ever want to get rid of north korea, but have access to it's natural resources in the foreseeable future. Maybe that is not unrealistic given how much or rare earth is found around the area.

I said laser but was thinking about antimatter.

I read about lasers being used in uranium enrichment.

It's theoretical, but an antimatter bomb could create a large amount of physical damage without the radiation, not a neutron bomb but a clean bomb without so much lingering radiation, now that in turn could be used to make a neutron bomb without so much lingering radiation but it's theoretical, however based on the size of Chinas super collider being built they may get there 1st.

I did not know that a neutron blast would activate other materials, I had read that neutron bombs were attempted with thin skin and other methods that were not all that successful and the lingering radiation would not be all that much reduced, I think this is why there is interest in antimatter weapons although it's very costly to make a tiny amount and it's stored in a magnetic field so there are a lot of problems to be solved.

Wow, I wonder about the stability of a stockpile of antimatter weapons, it could be really interesting someday.
