I just noticed this review. The tripods and clips seem kind of cheap. I noticed the laser you displayed in them were balanced to hold the especially larger lasers and were even with the horizontal plane. Can these hold them securely at any angle? Beam shots are rarely done in the horizontal. Otherwise, nice review. I hope they fulfill your every need.

There was no nefarious reason for me to post pictures of them all with a horizontal plane other than it was easier that way.

They are "cheap" and inexpensive, that's what makes them such a great buy. Where else can you buy 10 tri-pods that will hold anything from a Sanwu Pocket to a 6 cell size D Mag Lite for $40.00ish ? These pictures are holding a 6 cell so I'm sure you can extrapolate that they could hold a 2 or 3 cell size d mag lite just fine.

I was informed by another member CE5 that you could get adapters to use on them to hold 2 -6 mic/lasers, because they had the standard 1/4 inch bolt on them. (don't know how sturdy they would be) but he mentioned you could go down to your local guitar and check them out before you bought them? :thinking:


Edit: correction, these little mic holders do NOT have the 1/4 inch bolt on them. Just measured them to be sure, came back at 1/2 inch bolt, so I can't be sure if they'd fit anymore?


Edit; was thinking if a person has a Sanwu tri-pod and was to use the metal insert ( see pictures ) and use/put it in the stand that we're discussing it would than change it to a 1/4 inch bolt. Don't know if you can find/buy just the metal insert reducer. :thinking:

I've seen clamps on internet even 1/4 or 3/8 (old cameras used it - my Praktica FX2 for example), there exist even adaptors from 3/8 "female" to 1/4 "male". I just wanted to see the clamps on my own eyes before buying bunch of them. I want to get various tripods to fix lasers to various objects (like those with solid legs, those with tentacle legs, large tripod with some platform on top to move laser into hardly accesible position etc. So the clamp needs to be firm, likely metal material to sustain heavy duty conditions. Now I mostly use duct tape - useful (not only) laserpainter's friend.

Oh, thanks. In deed I have some drawings of composition for another artwork already. I was on spot yesterday and discovered a nice view on my favourite tree and did some tests with mobile cam and Evo. Preparation is in progress just need find right positions of lasers and stuff. Quite complicated as I want almost impossible. :crackup: But overall idea is almost finished even with meaning.

And a new project is considered with one my friend. Completely different scene, hopefully we will get it agreed with site manager to allow us spent a few nights there.

For both I would appreciate RPL-II to play role (it should be shipped soon). For the first it would be very useful to have high power and low divergence laser and for the second for sure as the scene(s) are supposed to be quite large. I even consider using RGB projector maybe. Let's see I need to see the site again to choose some spots and see air trafic corridors and other limitations.

The fact that you said "beam shots are rarely done on a horizontal plane"
leads naturally to the thought, that that was unknown, and I was trying to deceive people.

Hence the word "nefarious" lets you know that there was no ill intent.

Stating that there was nothing nefarious was answering your question of "why."
