Well I just got a laser of Ricker and it feels very nice but one thing worries me and that is that there is sort a huge circle of light around the laser. I have nothing against it as the laser fulfills my needs but what could be the cause of this. https://imgur.com/a/nyGUg

Re: Laser Sort of Spotlights Around Dot

Dirty lens, try to clean it with a q-tip or something

So just shove a qtip in there? Should I put like rubbing alcohol on it?

Hey, I have same problem on my Laser 303. It might be an issue with a lenses they use. I would recommend to avoid purchasing this laser. If this thing is a real issue for you.

Fairly common on cheaper lasers, and sometimes not-so-cheap lasers. It could be a dirty lens, or it could be refracting light from the lens barrel. On focusable lasers, a good test is to turn the focus knob while you're looking at the light on a wall. If the light pattern spins while you're turning the knob, it has to do with the lens.

Sounds like a dirty lens, but there can be other causes (light reflections internal to the lens barrel, as Chrisbee said). Adjust the focus as Chrisbee suggested, see if the splash rotates with the lens. If it does then the lens is causing it.

So just shove a qtip in there? Should I put like rubbing alcohol on it?

Try some compressed air first (from a compressor, not a can, ideally).

Failing that, get some 99% Isopropyl alcohol and dip a Q-tip in there. The alcohol cleans off any grease or residue. The Q-tips can sometimes leave some fibers/particles so you may need to use the compressed air again after cleaning. Ideally you want sterile Q-tips with wooden sticks and no glue, but for cheap optics it doesn't really matter.

Don't use the 70% Isopropyl alcohol often found in stores, it can leave a film/residue on the lens.

Probably a dirty lens, adjust the focus and see if the splash moves. Any I've purchased have had very little splash when new. Dust and stuff inevitably ends up on the lens.

For the price you really can't go wrong with the 301/303 lasers.

^^Good advice.
