Thanks again guys i will always go that one step further when i'm on the lathe . When the stock is locked in the chuck there is no reason not to make it appealing .
And the extra's are always a nice touch, the best part is the end results . I'm glad everyone enjoy's the work i do gives me a strong will to do better..

It's all in the individual what he wants to give to his customers. Some folks care and others don't. When something goes wrong they hide instead of just making things right. But at times you can't please some people

Well my C8 is done
I saw the pic's of the build in progress. Nice hunk of copper in aluminum sink with plenty of room in the bell of the host to sink the driver so I can run the planned NUM44
LIfetime, I hope you take the time to post these in build pic's:beer: as I can't

I wil post some pics here in the thread tonight after work. This C8 came out nice and the pill is prewired with 24 AWG silicon wire . This will handle the 44 easy.

Guys, tell me what you would think the duty cycle would be with a NUM44 at 4.5A??
I did stick with 2 18650's, although I had the option of a XL900 for 2 26650's

Well the heatsinking looks serious enough so should be pretty good. I wouldn't like to say what the duty cycle should be in a portable host. You will be able to work it out through the warm of the heatsink. Depending on the efficiency of the diode, you could see over 7W at 4.5A.
I thought I was running mine at 3.5A but it turns out I am also at 4.5A. I hit 7.01W and climbing before I had to switch it off as I was burning my sensor.

What a nice surprise for you though..i'm guessing you didn't build it?
My only NUM44 I have now I had Lifetime set at 4A as this was before he got his lathe and is in a C11 that is nicely sinked in AL. I'm not sure we he sourced that sink but it's nowhere near as big. I asked for the lower setting before I knew just how durable these 44's are but just as well as it only takes 2 18350's till I find an extention tube.
Still though at 5.8W its really overkill and scary. This new one is for a gift but wondering if i'll keep it now
Really though I can't feel the heat on the one C11 I have now but I know just feeling the sink and host isn't the proper way so I recently got a IR gun and will try and find the sweet spot.

It will all depend. 2 minutes sounds reasonable to me for a duty cycle, but you will never leave in on for that otherwise you won't have a house left.
The most I have ever needed to leave mine on for is around 30 seconds. The way it burns, is its very own duty cycle.
Keep it GSS, keep it! :eg:

5.8W is scary but try 7W+.

The duty cycle GSS you can check it with a digital thermometer and by feel but that sink will handle the heat no problem . I will be building a 44 this weekend in a full copper mag light set to 4.5A/ G2.. I enjoyed making this host Lots of work and the outcome is what i wait for . Well here are some more pics ..
