Question about the LK-PD2

Hi - if anyone with a Laserking LK-PD2 could give a some help - I'm thinking of getting one but I;m trying to find out how much actual control you have over the lumia images through DMX. I want to be able to do lumia but slowly shift some parameters in realtime - ideally rotation, axis, the basics.... can anyone tell me if that's possible? I can see that you can do some of that when in "normal" mode but not sure in the lumia mode, or is it really the same but simply with a lumia wheel engaged....?

Thanks!

Got a link? We had a laser king group buy awhile back and they sent us lasers that were not as advertised.

You could try to PM hakzaw1, he ran the LK group buy, he could probably help you out.

Hello Aiki1,
I know that you can in fact control the lumina thru DMX as I have that projector and a Chauvelt Obey 70 controller. If memory serves me correct I think you can control the speed of rotation and the color. If you are not in a rush I could hook it up sometime this week and let you know for sure.

Thanks everybody - brucemir - that would really be great - much appreciated.... seems like the control in lumia mode is pretty limited? No direct control of the lasers themselves like x/y axis movement etc.?

Thanks.

If it has galvos you can usually control x and y positions via dmx.

Hey Aiki1,
I have had the LD-PK2 projector for 3 years + and this is the first time I have investigated the lumina function as that is not what I bought it for, though I have photographed the lumina but never really trying to manipulate it using DMX until now. Here is what it can do:

Once it was in the Lumina mode:

channel 2 - changes the position left to right and the opposite.

channel 4 - changes up and down and the opposite.

channel 6 - changes color

channel 18 - chnges direction clockwise and counter clockwise. Also can change the
speed

All of the other channels did not do anything. I really like the projector and would recommend it with a DMX controller with at least 20 channels. My Chauvelt Obey 70 has 30 channels, but my Chauvelt Obey 40 has only 14 channels and when used with the LD PK2 loses valuable DMX features than cannot be accessed. I hope this has been a help to you and good luck!

Well that's cool, thanks for doing that. I have a 32 channel DMX board that would work. Using channels 2 and 4, can you get slow movement or is it more abrupt - meaning abrupt transition one way or another or gradual, if that makes sense..?

You should be able to get slow movement. One problem I had with my aurora lumia pj... when the dmx did work.. is that once you slowed the lumia wheel to a certain point it would start to jump instead of a smooth movement. But that's Suny vs laserking. Just figured I would chime for they are similar companies.

I bought one of those Aurora lumia projectors but I returned it.... I have a couple of ADJ Micro Hypnotics that are good, red and green but well-made.... and a regular ADJ Hypnotic with is great actually - RGB.... I want More with more control....

Ilda or dmx? Lsx or maxwell would be a cheaper route for ilda. You would also need a DAC like an etherdream

Great to hear that someone found a way to improve the two AWFUL examples of LUMIA that I have been seeing --one moving BUT WAY TOO FAST-the other was static LUMIA just RGB blinking off and on--LAME>
............but I have never worked w/ DMX having QS and BEYOND makes DMX not too needed..
have to rethink that IMO..
hope Tim Walsh heard about this since I gave him incorrect info on the LK=PD2 (&3) on its LUMIA..
TY to all posters here-- hak
