Hosts for 488nm build?

Hello folks!
I'm sure you've all heard about the $100 PLT5-488 I discovered, and if it turns out to be real, most of us will be making builds with it.
However, it's really difficult to decide what kind of host to use!
I'd prefer one with a side momentary switch - but apart from that, I really have no idea.
Part of me thinks it would be hilarious to put the prince of laser diodes into a 301 host.

Any ideas?

For a wavelength that pretty I'd want a custom host! But I say that about every diode so I guess I should be more realistic:p

It's only like 200mW right? That could fit in a pen build pretty easy, couldn't it?
To me it feels like it needs a more sleek design to it, and most casual hosts don't have that. Maybe finding one of those laser 66 gold or chrome hosts and putting it in there would be nice :D

I'm pretty sure that if this beautiful 488nm diode pans out, my 1st choice will be in another Jetlasers titanium "Ti-B" host!

Could I ask where you got just the host? And how could I get one? :D

Unfortunately, as far as I know, you can't obtain them any more, unless someone is wiilling to sell either a working 520, or 532nm, or a dead unit that you can mod.
That is what most of mine were originally. They used to sell for just over $100 new, which is a steal for a solid titanium host IMO.
Here is a link to my build thread on the one in the above photo.

Edit: You could try a WTB ad in the BST section, there are quite a few of these out there. The way people have been dropping around here, you may get lucky!

Edit #2: Another host I'd consider if you like the Ti-B, is the "Solarforce L2T" stainless steel. -Link-

You could always try putting it inside an eBay pen :D

It might be nice in one of those brass hosts like my LL 5mW 445! But I have no idea how to get the module out of one of those without destroying it (or if you can even get an empty host.)

Has anyone actually got a hold of one of these diodes yet though? Because to me it's just words on a screen until someone actually buys it or even confirms availability for larger quantity. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe they've even given DTR a price for the test batch yet.

No you're right, nothing that confirms it. We can but dream.

I believe DTR purchased a test batch a week or so ago. They said the lead time was 2 weeks, I think.

Somebody is trying to sell me CNI GLP hosts (not sure whether they're 2xAAA or CR2) - I think they would work pretty well. Does anyone know how many pieces they're in when fully disassembled?
